  1. Auction sales and price guides are a good start but a lot of those popsike prices seem much higher than I value the record personally.
  2. offcourse it is pete how stupid of me
  3. loretta williams "baby cakes / i'm missing you" jotis WD Ex 80 70 GBP inc recorded delivery storming uptempo northern and a deep soul classic by PM please if interested regards, dylan
  4. you could play it at the stute. They would love it.
  5. Can I assume there is NO northern interest in this so far then ?
  6. its nice when you buy the record of a person who had some involvement in producing, singing or playing an instrument. I have a signed copy of "freedom train" by bobby barnes on raina.
  7. I'm sure I saw Tim Brown have 2 copies of this on the decks one for each side straight after the other.
  8. I first came across Jason when he had copies of "amazing love" by james bell. 2.5k for hamiltion movement is a good price.
  9. I was young not that long ago and spent a lot of weekends travelling up and down the country to soul nights and all-nighters. I've cut back a hell of a lot in the last 6 or so years as I now have 3 young kids. I was quite keen to get a few DJ spots at one point but didn't get a look in. But the whole thing keeps going along and even if you step away from it all you know its going to be there again when or if you want to get back. The choice of nights now is incredible but they are not all for me.
  10. This is probably one of my favourite records and "sound off" is about the perfect soul record to me but has "i'm so sorry" ever been played in rare or northern soul clubs. I've never heard it myself. its certainly not traditional northern but I think its a sound that would fit realy well in the current climate. It would certaily get me up and trying to dance.

I have listened to it a few times and think I might have it on a CD comp somewhere. I can't remember it exactly so I will dig it out and listen again. If its got a strong vocal chances are I will like it and the fact its not psychedelic may also improve it for me.
  12. when looking for this quite often it will be listed for the other side "lights out"

the drums are good but the singing is quite poor to be honest. Shame realy with a strong vocal it would've been pretty good.
  14. I have a jotis WD now. I've always collected US labels to be honest I never went down the Uk label route.
  15. that would be a nice way to own it.
  16. What is the current valuation on this ? my guess woulde be around 70 to 100GBP baby cakes to me is what northern soul should be banging uptempo 60s and the deep flip is a masterpiece.

DJ Shadow played or raved about it it so a lot of kids who follow him and his sounds wanted it.
  18. I might (probably) have it. I asked as I suspected it might also be a cover. Now I need to go looking......
  19. sean what do you think to "gone for good" I actually think its the better side. also is that his own song or is that also a cover ?
  20. I have "thats how it is" it basically a cover version of an Otis Clay song but is very good. The other side "gone for good" is fantastic deep soul. I picked this up on the strength of Ray Quarles on the label and was pleased when I heard it. RQ is the better of the 2 IMO and now seems to be getting some attention. I think there are a few other ncie things on the label but i've not got them yet.
  21. I don;t hear similarities in the 2 step I know and the deep funk I know. Musically they are very different ?
  22. I like records that fit into the 2 step category I find it very soulful and well produced. I only have a small selection of these sounds but for value for money its a great genre to explore.
