  1. The music to me has to be the main focus. Looking smart or dressing a bit different to the regular pub crowd great but show some creativity don’t just copy.
  2. Agree with dobber and wheelsville if he owned all those records people would know who he was and vouch for him. anybody can compile a YouTube r channel of super rare records without owning them
  3. Recent example that astonished me was uprights on alley going for about 800 I thought it was 100 tops as much as I think it’s a fantastic record I had it down as what we used to call a tape swappers sound.
  4. It seems also that some items have a rough price between collectors but an auction copy will go way over it. and supply demand changes prices constantly
  5. You could assemble an awesome DJ set with that cash
  6. Some of them appear to be dressed up for a magazine shoot copying to closely the clothing and dancing of the past and capturing that perfect photo for the internet. Maybe trying just a bit too hard instead of just going with it ? I hope the scene continues and some of this crowd carry it on so good luck to those with the right intentions.
  7. Jimmy Armstrong on brothers three is incredible deep soul one of my favourite records. for quality and rarity this is very cheap.
  8. I’m well mate and appreciate both sides of the argument regarding these recent tracks. I just think a couple of them are pretty good. The ballad is the one that got me. what defines tailor made is that anything copying a style from a previous era ? Lee fields for example his output is fantastic but is a style from the past but still authentic and genuine. That said he does have releases going all the way back. also daptone etc.
  9. I think the recent batch of AI vocals could be tried out with quality soul singers and there is the opportunity to judge them again
  10. Charades is a brilliant oldie the thing that surprises me is how cheap there other mgm 45 still is
  11. My contribution was based on what was said on the radio show. real musicians, human written, AI vocals
  12. Yes I remember those. I had one from that batch. i think I’m still yours is the better vocal it fits the backing better and is the rarer variant One of those artists where all his output is fantastic and quite a lot of it is rare as well.
  13. Just the vocal as I understand it which is a key part of soul music as people who have lived through something will get that emotion into the song.
  14. I think exactly the same it’d incredible plenty of haters. if this was done with a human singer it would be getting far more credit. its real musicians and lyrics written by a human.
  15. I missed that as well…..
  16. I wandered how long before we had a thread about this. been listening to the tracks on deans show now for some weeks and they are very good. made by somebody who has listened to a lot of soul music. He was quite open and honest in the show about them. maybe get some real singers involved ?
  17. Yes I appreciate his wealth of knowledge and time on the scene. I just don’t warm to things being hyped. It doesn’t encourage me to want to buy. It obviously works though.
  18. I find the descriptions a hard read. Only check in here to see the prices and opinions.
  19. I sold mine for more 10 or 15 years ago. It’s a great price. Darrow fletcher is also fantastic but that price crikey !!
  20. Caught up with this show now and well that was interesting. He has really captured the 60s soul sound very well. And the lyrics are strong.
  21. this seems more like a boot than a licenced reissue then ? It is good this music has come to a new audience but only by official products IMO no place for these dodgy boots. much prefer the Willie mason myself more northern if that makes sense.
  22. Never heard this without the piano intro starts too sudden like some kind of mistake ?
  23. Probably haven’t but carry on….
  24. There is a lot of fantastic unissued stuff being put out by some very knowledgable people. the record discussed here is a weak pop song that shouldn’t get anywhere near a soul set
  25. This is what I was thinking. They still have stampers and these have been pressed recently. It’s only guess work on my part.
