Seen a few recently, of the same label design as your scan Dave, listed as "2nd Issue" or "70's Reissue". Sometimes difficult to tell wether label is a very feint blue/green or white though. Also seen these listed as originals: ........same design as Kris has, but with a Maddison address crossed through. Have to admit I was uncertain when I took a punt on one of these in the closing stages of an auction. - Kev
  2. Craig, what exactly do you mean by "stolen from me"? Every main line BR station in London must be smothered with CCTV. If you were robbed or had left an "unattended package", it will surely have been spotted by the cameras so have you reported the loss? Alternatively, if you have misplaced your bag then contacting the stations Lost Property office just might yield a result. Either way, good luck with getting your records back buddy. Moldie is right - how on earth did you manage such a precise list of what was in your playbox? Had it been me, I'd be struggling to remember what was packed so at least you've got a good start towards identifying your stuff. There's a record fair at Spitalfields Market, just down the road, on Fridays (alternate Fridays?) which might be a good place to start looking if the theft is down to a local opportunist. - Kev.
  3. Thing is, I was prepared to pay the tax on the full amount and would have taken this into account when bidding. It got me thinking though - what is the value of any 45? Is it the minimal value it was when first released, or the over-inflated price which the likes of us will pay for it after 40 yrs of wear and tear? I know I said before that I'd ASKED the seller to declare a mininum value - that was to allow a shorter post and was not srictly true ...... I contacted the seller before bidding to enquire what they were declaring as the value, not to suggest or demand - but to enquire. Having received a reply I bid accordingly and was surprised to find that they appeared to have back tracked on what they told me, hence the "unexpected" charges. Most of the charge was VAT. Is VAT due on 2nd hand goods? If not, it might have helped if the seller had declared "used vinyl record" but there was no indication that the item wasn't new. Like I said before, it could have been worse and I'm thankful for that. Just wish I'd have been able to calculate the true cost in advance. Kev.
  4. I get an Invoice from Parcelforce for £28.23 ..................and info which included that I can have it delivered on a Saturday for an extra £12. :ohmy:wtf !
  5. Are they on a GNP Crescendo?
  6. Is a clue hidden there - and is the guy at centre rear Webby's Internet Cafe "friend"?
  7. Is it the Four Lovers, the bloke on the left being a young Franki Valli?
  8. I haven't been buying for a few months so it was good to get started again with this mixed bunch: Dickie Wonder....Nobody Knows...Sounds Of Soul Soul Notes....How Long Will It Last....Way Out DeVolia LaSane....Don't Take My Love Away/Flyin' High....Path Chosen Few....Birth Of A Playboy....Maple Soul Survivors....Mama Soul....(German) Atlantic And despite removing all traces of posties visit, how did my missus know I'd had vinyl delivered? 6 hours later she could SMELL my vinyl cleaning spray. Just one quick squirt too - she's like a friggin bloodhound! - Kev
  9. I had 2 copies of the Toby Bullard from this seller - both being returned as they sounded really distorted and were practically unplayable. He came good for me eventually with a replacement item but there's been a couple of threads on here where people have had problems with this seller - non receipt of big items I think and problems getting refunds. - Kev
  10. The Tams - Hey Girl Don't Bother Me (ABC) Cost me £7, more than a weeks wages in '69, for a battered copy but I was a happy bunny. - Kev.
  11. No need to check this out if your hearing is fine 'cos it's just about word for word what was said by the speaker. If i'd been there I wouldn't have known wether to listen or read.

  13. I don't bother them with a PM Manus, but I do post a comment on their profile. That way it lets them know I've got the vinyl and also acts as feedback that others can see.
  14. Same shot I reckon, but the Italians have tilted it slightly anti-clockwise - and not chopped the top of his head off.

That's just bad manners. Even if you've failed miserably to impress with your own choices it's just common courtesy to set things right for the next dj. - Kev.
  16. But I'm bored Pete. When the old grey matter is working again I'll remember which Stateside vinyl I have where some t0sser has removed the top layer of the label and hand drawn a Kent/Modern label in felt-tip. :ohmy:wtf
  17. Thing is - it depends why you want them. The examples shown are pretty sh!ite but it's label damage. In an ideal world everyone would find a perfect mint copy of their desired vinyl. But.........not everyone regards themselves as a collector and just wants the sound (yes , because they collect them ) , and for arguements sake (and it's a well worn arguement) on original vinyl. I'd sooner have a crap water damaged label on an Ex to Mint player than a decent looking copy that sounds like a box of Snap Crackle & Pop. I'd sooner own a water damaged Shrine label, courtesy of Washington DC Fire Services than an unsleeved copy that's been abused through years of neglect. What's in the groove counts for a lot. Some would even go so far to say that label damage and w.o.l. can be regarded as part of the vinyl's history. To others condition, including the label, is everything. It's all relative. Kev
  18. Not bad I suppose, but it's a bit flat and LJB has taken something haunting and soulful and turned it into a pop song IMO. No emotion in it, and not a patch on Ray Pollard. - Kev.
  19. Been looking at Nina Simone myself. She certainly has a vast and varied catalogue - not all of which is too well known. Lots of her stuff has been remixed and sampled by other music genres already, sadly to it's detriment IMO. Kev.
  20. You can't take sides mate 'cos it strikes me that everyone is on the same side. It's just that some are so far up their own @rses that they can't see that.
  21. Regarding the second part of your post Mick, that's not neccessarily the case. Plenty of unsuitable venues about, and some still in use. Like it or not the 100 Club is an iconic venue. Even without the iconic status and the history attached to it, it's atmospheric. Being at a niter on one of the busiest streets in London, having a cool-down outside and watching all the other clubbers and piss-heads staggering home and knowing that down those stairs you've still got a few hours of something special, means a lot to me . That at least will be irreplaceable. It is special. Kev.
  22. Erm.....I sensed criticism in your reply to my post.............."But not enough to do anything about it." So I'm not criticising you for trying to prevent the 100 club from being closed down - I wish you well, I really do. I'm criticising you for coming across as an arrogant @rse. Nothing more to say or it'll drift further off what is an important topic.
  23. Wow, just caught up with this thread and it's moved on a bit. I take it the above is a response to my first post. Well, yes it is just about the 6t's - for me anyway. It may be an iconic venue but there is little that would entice me there apart from the niters. You however see it differently. If you have 2 bands that perform there I suppose you have a vested interest..........................and you gave £20. Very commendable, but in times when I've been able I've handed more than that to strangers on the street who are down on their luck. Currently, for reasons I won't go into, I've had no income whatsoever for nearly 2 months and even though it's a relatively near venue for me I couldn't afford to attend the last anniversary. So, don't criticise me pal. Look to others who have a vested interest as I'm sure some of them are loaded. - Kev.
  24. Yes it's a shame. Yes I'd miss it. But as Ady himself has reminded us recently - The 6T's Rhythm & Soul Society is not the 100 Club, and the 100 Club is not the 6T's. So......................where's the Christmas Party gonna be? - Kev
  25. And I think it's time you stopped worrying yourself about other posters. Pretty audacious IMO to go categorising peeps who bothered to post . Individuals posting their views on the film is what the thread is about. Go buy some long trousers Simon.
