  2. Totally agree, people either forget what was played at venues over the years, they all played new releases, if they fitted the bill at the time, should be no different today.
  3. It's as rare as Lester Tipton, up until mid to late 80's only 4 known copies all from Martin Koppell back in early 70's, Martin kept one for himself Bob Foster (North Wales) brought the other 3 copies back to the UK.
  4. Why??????????
  5. Looking for a nice clean demo copy of "Someone Else'S Arms" - Barbara Acklin (Brunswick) Might consider an issue if someone doesn't come up with a demo. Played my copy tonight and decided just got to have a clean copy to replace my frying pan copy, that's what you get when you pay 10p for a record with no sleeve on car boot, been meaning to replace for years, so come on who's gonna help me out.
  6. Each to there own no right or wrong way just preference.
  7. That may be so Pete, but if your snipe is $1 lower than my top bid you lose, top bid always wins I'm afraid whether it's a snipe or not.
  8. Check it out: https://www.recordshopcity.co.uk/?p=1161[url="https://www.recordshopcity.co.uk/?p=1161 refosoul I'm waiting to be added.
  9. I would suggest more that that went out as they were actually shipped to record shops before being recalled.
  10. Nev I always bid as soon as I've seen a record I want, I put my top price on it and that's that, I don't see the point in waiting in case I forget to bid, and if I've decided on a price I'm prepared to pay it makes no difference either way on a big number as far as I'm concerned. Won loads of big records on ebay without using Snipe, only useful if you're after getting something cheap and you aint going to get a big number on the cheap.
  11. There will still be record shops, the big ones may disappear off the high street, but smaller specialised ones will still survive. My shop is basically my warehouse, as long as I take enough through the door to cover costs, I make my money on-line, venues etc. On the other hand you all talk about the good old days, but a hell of a lot of you don't support us either, ask yourself when was the last time you went into a record shop and bought something, I stock most of the new release soul 45's but I know local's who still send off for them, when they could just as easy pick them up from the shop. So if you're near Rhyl on holiday please come along and say hello, you may even find something you might like to buy.
  12. I remember back in the 70's when I was buying new releases, lots of my mates were saying they were shite etc, lots of them records are now northern classics, and same people rave over them now, strange world of northern soul.
  13. Bought it as a new release back in the 70's, it has been getting some spins of late. I've got a couple of spare copies if anyone is interested.
  14. Are you saying a Margaret Little has gone cheap because a label was knackered, when was this, as I've had all three known copies in my hands and although they're not mint they aren't knackered either.?
  15. Loads you sell them for a profit today, not what it might bring next year or ten years down the line, some you win on as copies turn up, others you lose on, nature of the game I'm afraid.
  16. Be careful with what you put in your will regarding the value of your records, it may push you into the tax bracket, as old records in your property they won't have a value they will just be another bit of stuff that people have in their houses, once you put them in your will with a value they become a collectable and part of your taxable estate.
