I’ve listened to both Cressa and Martha and yes deffo the same vocal. The Cressa is clearly a badly edited copy of Martha with a clear chop at about 1:20 in removing the 30 second instrumental break. Martha is almost 3 mins, ‘Cressa’ is about 30 sec shorter

I always send 12” or LPs with two stiffeners with the record taped into the stiffeners. For cheaper items I use the self sealing envelope mailers and for more expensive items I use the full cruciform - both from Sounds Wholesale (I cut my own stiffeners tho’ from boxes and pallet trays found in Costco) VERY expensive 7s go in full 7” cruci with stiffeners INSIDE a 12” cruci with stiffeners. Pretty much bullet proof unless it gets run over like the infamous Don Gardner - Cheatin’ Kind that Mr Manship had the mis-fortune to post I have NEVER had an item get broken in the post (touch wood).

I agree - I didn’t know The Deceptions version so I Tubed it - their version lacks depth - B&B is the better. PS I got a reply No, he was with Black & Blue for sure. My understanding is he left the group, and they replaced the vocal track. His name is Archie Durham. Any more info or a copy of that elusive alternative take of B&B anyone? I wonder if there is an acetate somewhere in the world?

Anyone I’ve been contacted by a Barbara Durham in the USA who’s husband sang on a version of Black & Blue - ‘ Of all the hearts to break’ on GAME. She was hoping that my sales copy of the test pressing was the version he was on but after I sent her a copy it turns out it wasn’t him. I see there are a couple of label variations and my test press out there which I believe are all the same version. Does anyone know of an alternative take? I would dearly love to get a copy to him if there is. This is the known version My test press (£27 if anyone wants it) I also sent her a copy of the Mercury 45 what I got/ Miss Anne but it sounds like the same singer anyway. Please let me know.

The acetate is/was mine by the way. When I dropped it off I wasn’t able to speak to John - I knew it was Walter Heath. There were three acetates in all. The Walter Heath acetate is fantastic full sound quality.
