  1. Look forward to that Martyn.I hope people take it all in the spirit of the 90 vein.Sure some were played before at stafford or even earlier venues but there were lots of great records that i will always associate with the 90s.Also certain DJs were in there pomp at this time Sooty being one of them.Kenny Burrels golden time also, and one of my faves Bob Hindsley. As For the scary corner people well lots of hard core characters girls as well as blokes were still around from the 80s.Some you loved being around and some you avoided but they often gave the night that edge that made the atmosphere electric at places like keele.
  2. All i can say is WOW thats what i call a podcast.I frequented a few of the 90s venues Keele,Bretby,Blackburn,Griffin, first Stoke Togetherness,Trentham Gardens,Manchester Ritz, and they were great times when the scary corner people were still around.Even the soul nights were top notch back then with Hollingwood,Tony Banks Brighouse,Early Prestwich,Earl of Donny all great nights. This podcast of fantastic tunes captures that time period and i remember hearing many of them and most not since back then. Thanks Martyn its a TEN from Patto

Donny was my first record buying place also.As a 14 year old in 1979 i trawled through Bradleys,Foxes,Angies, and the market to spend my pocket money. One of the first i bought was The Champion on uk London a big record at my local youthy
  7. Andreas how do you know for sure and how do you explain the ones with black text on one side and blue on other.I assume they were all done around the same time period and are just first second and third runs or different plants. To suggest the black text is a reissue means it was done a lot later so what evidence do you have for that. Why would they reissue it later. I dont know for sure but until given solid proof will regard all the three variants as originals.

  15. Some More info on differing texts here https://jamguy.com/Teddy_and_the_Fingerpoppers/
  16. I think its because most people assumed that the Blue Text is the first so that would command a higher price. But who knows for sure the Arctics are such a minefield. Also how do you explain the ones with blue on one side and black on the other. It would be nice for J M to clarify
  17. Been over this before. There are actually 3 variations,I ended up with a black text one but there are one with blue text one with black text one with blue text on one side and black on the other side My info is that they are all originals done around the same time.Who knows which run was first i certainly dont. But all are fine in my book but i suppose if you want to be dead certain you have to get a Demo
  18. This is what the 1977 reworking copy looks like.Done by label owner joey jefferson on his own label. As Pete says different lead vocal.Slightly different title as well.A legit release and hard to find these days. Also prefere this version to the mega rare 60s one. Also the Pinkie has the great instrumental on the flip
  19. Cheers Steve just looked at the other thread.Never Heard the Orlons Track played out either yet it makes that Chart even above Morris Chestnut.
  20. Just looking through that 100 list and all typical well known casino sounds some great some best forgotten.Know them all very well as im sure most on here do but have to own up to never ever hearing of The Orlons--Once Upon A Time. Was this really big enough to get into a top 100 chart.

Agree mate Betty's version for me also.Think it was played as an ender record in the past but cant remember by who or where
  22. Sooty Thanks for that i enjoyed watching it,nice gesture to put it out in full .Some great interviews and a good insight to the scene as it was 10 years ago.I missed that night but went to every other one that year and for me that was the best time at the Kings Hall. Honestly at the time if you had asked me the question i would have answered with all three labels.I owned all three, but the only one i own now is the Soultown issue.I always thought The New Younghearts sounded crisper, and with more punch, and looks Beautiful. Happy New year to you Patto
  23. Yep Really Mate ever since i first heard Spellbound as a nipper on the Talk Of The Grapevine LP thought is was a much better slab of Northern than Sister Lee.Only my opinion of course.
  24. Pete Sister Lee does nothing for me never liked it.But Betty Boo's Spellbound for me transferes the track to another level
  25. Cheers Martin will look forward to that mate.If we get Lou Ragland as well it will be a hell of a night
