Yes Chris i was there.Chris King's birthday nighter.Ivy Joe came on told a few anicdotes and sang a couple of tunes.Don't think most people realised the status of the legend that was stood in front of them.

Yeh this was played by Guy Hennigan at Stafford. The Vocal to it is Called --Fox In A Mini Skirt--Claude & Hank Carbo --Castle.The Vocal is a much better record in my opinion
Its a great Funky /Northern track .I agree with Hayden that the vocal is better.Guy was a sucker for instrumentals so thats why he probably went for the Castle band.Notice that a lot of your comments are negative. Why dont you list a few underplayed uptempo cheapish records and contribute in a more positive manner
Hayden thats a fantastic record.Maybe cheap but its hard to track down.It took me ages to get one and i eventually found one in France.Incidently the instrumental of it by The Castle Band called Little Floridy was a Stafford spin from Guy Hennigan i think
Yep Gordon two of my fave records at the moment the kind of stuff i fill my box with. There are loads out there enough to last all through a nighter and dance non stop
Check out this thread for loads of examples of great underplayed uptempo and under fifty quid records.Would have loved the thread to have lasted longer and would love to hear more of them played out

If thats the case then its strange they both sell for at least double the Kent one. They are both not that hard to find and still Djs are sticking to the older copies. It just confuses me that they dont switch to the Kent one which is 100% legit
Hi Guys
This is the copy i have which i bought around 2000
Over the years i have seen the TORCH one and the green SOUL SERIES label played out lots of times. My question is has it been assertained for definite that either of these are legit and ok to play out
If they are not then why don't DJs play the cheaper and easier to get recent Kent release
I remember going to all three of those venues Tony.Went several times to Tez Wright's Castle park nights local for me.Brooklands was a bit too posh for me remember Snowy on the decks.Keresforth Hall last time i was there for Tommy Hunt's performance.Don't seem like 10 years ago though.

Thats a Cock on reflection of it all Martyn. The R&B style Northern is very subjective.I have heard people state that certain records are not R&B when to my ears they clearly are. A lot of the oldies fans dont like to hear early classics such as Mickie Champion refered to as R&B but they are quite happy to label the later Stafford and 80s/90s stuff as R&B.But as you say what WORKS is What counts.
