Ebay Putting Up Fees Yet Again
That is an incredible hike! £6 to £14.99, a 150 % increase. Have they tried to justify it, I can't find it, or are they just so arrogant that they don't bother. It's been a bad day all round, my favourite beer has gone up from £ 1.69 to £1.99 today also!

Delegation On State Records
While we're on the subject. Does anyone know how JW came to record the UK song, it doesn't seem to fit in with the other material he recorded which was sourced from the regular writers in Chicago ? Also I have a Spanish copy on zaforo, the other side is a ballad, "Where is love by Sonny Sanders and others yet the picture sleeve states "Nobody but you" It must be the right cover because the numbers match up. Can anyone shed any light on this? I take it it was issued in US?

European Origin Records That Have Gained Acceptance On The Ns Scene
Can I hijack this thread? or at least send it in a different direction! I've always had a theory that there are some excellent european origin singles out there that didn't get release in either US or UK. Usually recorded by US artists resident on the Continent they usually have that slightly different sound which sound neither US nor UK. So let's share some of these and get away from SDJ for a while Here's a starter: Vigon - The Spoiler. Is it a cover of Eddie Purell? He also did a cover of Bob and Earl's "Your Time is My time." Think he was Belgian but unlike most of my Euro stuff it doesn't come in Pic Sleeve. So I can't even confirm him as a black artist. Cheers Andy

Dusty Springfield Haunted
That's great, another question answered thanks to the wonderful t'internet.....WHAT AM I SAYING !!! That's why I'm having to shut my shop! oh well, swings and roundabouts, thanks for the info and the scan guys. Dusty was of course a soul singer who happened to be white and a great soul music fan so it's good to remind people of this track. Phatspinner

Dusty Springfield Haunted
Has anyone got any info on the above record? Was it ever issued on a US Atlantic 45? According to my Dusty in Memphis Album it was a US single release though it is only included on the album as 1 of 4 bonus tracks. I've been trying to find one but can't seem to trace it i'm sure someone on here will know !! Any info appreciated Phatspinner

Tony Middleton To The Ends Of The Earth On E Bay
It must be the light. I'm a crap photographer I guess. It is a reddish orange though. If anyone wants a listen over the phone so they can confirm it plays OK even though there is a mark on vinyl then please pm me. Out of interest, looking at the writers is this an old show type tune "souled up" the a side is certainly from a musical. Amazing how the a sides were picked in the mid 60s! Andy

3,000,000 Records At A Bargin Price
There's still most of the haul from the big Northern Bank Robbery in Ireland still out there. Maybe this is one way of laundering it? Interesting to see if a red curly - haired guy with a twinkle in his eye and a shotgun in his back pocket turns up and pays in cash! On the other hand..don't bank on it! Phatspinner

Flaming Emeralds-have Some Everybody
And the Grapevine issue of Have Some Everybody? Is this harder or easier to obtain? I notice that JM does not have one in stock at present. Phatspinner

Lou Johnson
nice casual interview here https://www.therighttrack.org.uk/lou_johnson.html Thanks for bringing this to my attention, it's amazing what's out there! I guess that's why this Forum is so good, the sharing of info and all that! Anyway, just had to say that "Unsatisfied" is my favourite Northern Soul record of all time. From the day I first heard it at the Torch to now it still gives me goosebumps when i hear it. After I had told some friends that I would have it played at my funeral, I later thought better of it as I felt my wife might not appreciate the message it conveyed! Decided therefore to replace it with "Reach out for Me" which runs it a close second. Phatspinner

Soul In South Africa
I was in South Africa this year, Cape Town. Now I know that South African pressings exist, however could I find any vinyl whatsoever, NO. It's the only place in the world that I've never found any vinyl and I wasn't just looking for soul records! They were there at one time but what's happened to them goodness knows. I was directed towards an Antique Shop but it was closed. Guess it's how we'll be in a few years time (see my other thread, demise of the traditional record shop.) One other thing, it's not really a place for mooching down backstreets looking for old vinyl outlets!! Made some of more run -down parts of USA feel quite safe! Hope you prove me wrong and for all that it's a great place for a holiday.

Clem Curtis & Foundations Sweet Happiness
Thanks. I only ask because it's been sat in a box at my shop for the last few years without any interest. Also listed on GEMM for a couple of years at £10. I marked it as rare UK version but still no takers until it appeared on JM's auction. Then it sold out of the blue thanks to exposure on there I guess. I didn't have a problem selling it as I don't rate this version but for a UK collector it's probably a nice collection filler.

Clem Curtis & Foundations Sweet Happiness
Sorry to be a bore but the link I have only appears to give starting price, so could someone tell me what above record sold for on recent JM auction?

Demise Of The Traditional Record Shop
I wonder if there will be any traditional record shops left soon. You know, the ones where people go to dig and play through vinyl. I say this because after 20 years I am about to close my shop and bow to the inevitable. I've had a good run and have no complaints, the world has moved on. I just don't think that people have the time or inclination to browse any more. E bay and on-line traders are the preferred method of buying vinyl now I guess and as they say, if you can't beat em, join em. At least 50% of my stock is black music, be it 60s, 70s, 80s, northern, modern, deep, funk or dance yet I have spent whole Saturdays with hardly anyone in who's interested in them. In my time I have supplied lots of DJs but can only conclude that they have most of what they want except for the mega rareities that are out of my league. In the city I'm in, a couple of years ago there used to be at least 6 shops which stocked vinyl, in the New Year there will be one full time and one that opens on Saturdays only and as far as I know neither stocks the music we all love. I used to enjoy Saturdays in the shop chatting about the music we all love but I guess forums like this have replaced even that. As I say it's time to move on but I'd be interested to hear any thoughts on this subject.

Inspirations Touch Me Etc
Thanks for the info guys. B side is indeed an excellent beat ballad but I still prefer the "touch me" side myself. My Manships guide rates it at £30, is this a fair reflection? I remember buying it from Selectadisc c1972 /3 when they seemed to be plentiful hence my original question re "boots."
-
Inspirations Touch Me Etc
Any info regarding the Inspirations, Touch Me kiss Me hold me on black Pearl 100. Was it booted or did it just turn up in quantity back in the day? It's not in the Bootleg guide I have so are they all originals etc? Any info from the experts on here appreciated.

Ian Levine On Mary Fox Soul Show
Ian Levine appeared on this show this evening and spoke highly of the contributors to this forum Should you wish to hear what he had to say then the show is available on the Internet "listen Again" He comes in about half way through the show. I must admit as a new member I had no axe to grind either way in the great Levine debate but after listening to him for the last hour I can now see why he engenders such strong feelings. After a "how great I am, How I discovered every great northern record and everything else after me is rubbish" speech he then proceeds to take up the rest of the show with a massive plug for his new album, a slagging off of Soul Source and proceeds to interrupt Mary whenever she tries to get a word in edgeways... I now know why..... Phatspinner
