Played William Powell at Alderley Edge last weekend - went down a storm. Cecil Washington ?? surprisingly gets mix response whenever it gets played ( not by me I hasten to add

Can't believe this is causing such a deep discussion ( apart from the Titles of actual Covers ) Done so that no one else could find a copy and so give exclusivity to the DJ. 'Only me got a copy of this' - Much Kudos !! No other reason, nothing to do with the Boot Boys.
  4. Libra and my name is Charles

I know !! I was chatting with a friend ( yes I do have one ) the other day and we talked of old Records that seldom see the light of day, this was one of them. We loved it back in the day but its not really the 'Modern' take on oldies - not 100MPH so gets ignored a little. Before I get a barrage of 'we play it at ours' I am generalising. Ted, you must have a box full of stuff that frustrates the hell out of you when its played and gets little or no response !! Hey ho, theres always You Tube. Take care and see you soon matey

The Group ft Cecil Washington I Don't Like To Lose Original Prophonics !! How much ????
  10. Matchey has been out at Davy's in Sheffield for the past few months. Looks like he's starting to feel the pull again.
  11. Everyone is with you Dave, you are in the best of hands. Take care XXX

Quality, Played it out some months back, emptied the floor but had loads coming up to ask about it and have a look. Nice piece of Soul !!
  13. RIP Shelley - Your music will live on in our hearts.
  14. 100% Its a nothing question because it would be impossible to prove unless you are brave enough to put one on yourself. We run a club that sells Beer etc but we don't get pissheads in and have no alcohol related incidents at all. The Music is still the draw. Play shit music and cheap beer v Play quality Music and a little more expensive Beer. Which gets the most punters. Ask the question and the self righteous will wave the Beer Free flag ( but its OK to knock a few Tabs back ) Most people are sensible drinkers, if they are not, chuck em out ! Before we went to Sams or Casino or the Palais od Unity Hall etc we met in the pub and had a couple of pints - OK then but not now. Occasionally you may get an unruly but, depending on the place you go, it is rare. If you see them regularly then change your venue.
  15. No, big room Saturday Night. Played Edwin Starr - Contact, some quite dire stuff. If you were a Casino regular you know it wasn't all 100mph Stompers with a floor full of backdrops and acrobatics. It hurt bad some nights I did the tour but didn't hear every record every night. Too many people assume that because they didn't see The Holocaust it didn't happen.
  16. My bad Toad, off the Soap Box with a hanging head !! Lots more than that me thinks. Was a little invasive for a while ( not on a massive scale though)
  17. Yes, not out and out sessions but on a regular basis. Came and went but was a part.
  18. You're fooling yourself Toad. We are talking a majority of these events. There are a few 'free events' in every genre of music but the Big Boys don't do it out of love. When they started playing Ska at The Casino it was out of 'punter pressure' but they were not Soul Boys they were the skins/suedes. Young and impressionable types went with the flow but a swathe of 'old timers' stayed true to their roots and beliefs. Hate Ska and it has no place in Soul venues. We can argue over Roots etc but its not for me and many others
  19. What if you are 55. Do you click 50 - 55 or 55 - 60 ?? Only being 21 this doesn't effect me !!!!
  20. Its probably offered up to get more people through the door and so swell the coffers. Its all about the Ching Ching !!!

Don't know if you are a Football fan Barry but its a bit like the 'fancy' players showing off by crossing the ball by crossing their legs and using the back one to kick the ball - That sounded like a right load of Bolox but I think you know what I mean !!!

Tommo's fault mate. He 'taught' them how to dance. Looks like they've distended their Knee joint when they do it, very odd !!
  23. Badge of honour or a Green Card !!
