  2. i'm not stirring it , this is a valid question, if it's about the venue how come the current floor fillers and new releases room now plays oldies and the 'theatre' (old oldies room) now plays disco? sooooo against the original st.ives ethos. just asking.... UNLESS that's how it was post 1977 (because, alas, i only went to st.ives in the EASC days when it was 'up there' with Wigan and Clees

  4. agreed nigel, by all accounts he loves and respects his music and, as you say, stringing a set together is such an important skill in dee-jaying. Too many dee-jays don't know what to play or why they are playing it but i've heard this young lad was very, very good, long may he reign. We're all gonna need someone to dee-jay at our wakes as time goes by, i think he's probably gonna be last one standing and walk right into that post

  13. harold melvin @ stafford, may 1983, nobody expected the set they did but all appreciated it, sat, listened, were moved, applauded and wanted more. trammps @ clee pier 1st anniversary 1976 (mainly because of the occasion) but mainly didn't much go for live acts because, as said by someone earlier, they broke up the night of dancing.
  14. used to dance near the front, back to the stage, was a shyte dancer then (still am) never had any bad vibes from those with but one left foot (maybe they felt sorry for me)
  15. consult with your paying punters, see how they feel!

  19. that's how i remember it Simon. Raistrick came back with a hundred count box of orange labels from the distributers (i bought one at the time, always a favourite of mine from Clifton Hall & the Winter Gardens) and i'm sure it was before i'd seen it on Anderson's list. Hence the very old joke 'Lucky David' (100 count box) as apposed to 'Lucky Davis'.
  20. never did like the fleet much, went when there was nothing else on, but the room to me (even when full) never hit the atmosphere sweet spot. loved wirrina, went from first to last (in the ballroom NOT the sports hall). wasn't the same when coxy took the name and eventually took the venue, even worse when those kids took the sports hall over in early 80s, the place was well past any credibility by then. but in it's early days......... it was like having the casino ten miles from your doorstep (with me coming from Stamford), in fact, it was better.
  21. thanks Dave, that's the one www.lindseycoastradio.tk
