the old scene didant want shitt on tv as thats what made it in to a piss take !! and spoild it and you endid up with clubs full of twa..s , people did there best to keep it away from the media thats part of the underground scene that it was, and made it so very special you do not need to f,,,, advertise it you heard about it in many diferent ways , if kidds these days have to be f,,,, draged in to it and its got to be dressed up to apeal to them then f,,, me whats it all come to ??? northern soul dancing lesons you got to be kiding me !!!! oh the scene will die !!!! may be thats not a bad thing because the way some tw..s , on here are talking i wouldent want to be apart of the new scene , what its become and what it started out as are two very diferent things the one thing that all the old school was afraid of was publicity we didant need it back then you got in to it vier freinds and the music you liked it or you didant' so now the very thing that this scene has allways been proud not to be "commercial " is the way forward to atract er? younger people what a joke, r i p northern soul scene buy some cd's and take dancing lesons is this what its come to ??

me and many other wiganers had passes as cleaners and coke lads we used to carry crates of coke around one barr to another before the nighter started , we used to sit in mr mms and watch the cabaret in there before we started, ahh good old days eh?

i like many other people started going in74 but stoped in 76 77 why? because it became comercial a victim of its own sucses ,at the begining it was a top venue for soul music and people that was already on the scene also a lot of people went to see what it was all about and got in to it nothing wrong with that` but then it also started to atract non soulies it started to become a trendy place to go it became comerciel the music went down hill , i started to notice dick heads who never heard a soul record in there lives and the theving was geting worse am sorry to have to say it but for me the proper soulies stoped going a long time before it closed , but thats my own personel opinion yes it became crapp but it looks to me there aint never going to be another place that can come close , its very simple there was so many of us in those days and we was all young and most of the scene now is stil mostly made up of us lot , there simply isant the amount of young people on this scene to ever come clost to re creating that terific atmosphere we had back then , i wish people would stop using this term "move on" i know loads of other people my age and over who was around years ago and are well up to date i like underplayed stuff r&b crosover modern and more select nighters that cater for ether one but i also go back to other clubs that are basicly full of people i knew from mr ms years ago that are happy enjoying the music from back then they are happy er? not moving on its what they want to hear so whats wrong with that ? i never ever go on about the casino to younger people that never got to go because they dont want to here it do they ? but its nice now and again when asked to tel um , am a wigan lad and am proud of the casino and also most of the people that went will tel you the same thing nothing will ever come close to it and its fantastic to go to any venue in the uk and nine time out of ten you can bet there will be some bugger there who you know , ps before any body says it yer i know i canot spell

yes i can agree with that also remember fat kenny spence who brian put me in mind ` kenny died a long long time ago he was a wigan lad who was also extremley likeable ste whittle was telling me about the time the curtain went back on the big stage at the casino and there was kenny in a very comprising position with a girl over the grand piano , wasant there that night, the one night i dont go and i miss all this , was wandering if any body rimembers that ????

what do yer do if yer want to see them dig um up ?? the other guy was around in the 60s and so was i mate , i seen james brown in 74 he was never out of the charts back then suppose he aint er? real soul in your book? soul music covers hell of a lot of music a lot of it charted as it dose now, tons of it didant but people started to like it twenty years later, your mising the point mate, i also seen jackie wilson j walker edwin star and about twenty others who all charted back then so what are they then pop singers or soul singers ? give me a brake i would bet you a box of records that if that duffy track had been made back in 1975 ther is a good chance it would be being played at more well known venues now , all i got to say is( spencer davis) do i need to say more ,ther is tons of music played at northern soul venues that aint but fits in

there is lowton are in there 12th year or somthing like that , having mentiond that even lowton hasant got the numbers it used to pull in or may be am wrong not sure but one reason for this is the amount of clubs springing up all over the place and this is also part of the reason why a lot of clubs are not doing to good
