Dave was too good at english for his own good, why use 1 word when you can use 1,000,000. Overall Dave had his heart in the right place, offen outspoken, but still a good guy.
  3. Yes Louise (the other half), suffers with it. She first started with it after her 1st Southport Weekender (Powerhouse Room). She has to listen to her I-Pod every night to get to sleep, she listen to talkin books (stories) so the ringing does not drive her mad. She also has to take Betahistine Tablets with her meals to help ears with balance. On really bad nights she takes Zopiclone to help to get to sleep.

Tellytext Give it a good review last week 4 out of 5.
  5. Dave. sorry to hear about Bev. Hope everything goes well today, and she makes a quick recovery. Dave.
  6. The word newie or new=sound was always used to call a new discovery when first pl;ayed, even in 1971 when I first went to a N.S. do. The 60s newie is from the 80s like Matt says. I never did Stafford, but Guy used to say to me come down and hear some great 60s newies.

That sure sounds like something Guy would do, and knowing Guy he won't mind.

    Nice One.
  9. Saw him a few times over the years, always spot on. The last time I think was at Park Hall Camelot in the 80s, got a great photo of him laying on his back playing the sax.

Like loads and loads from the 80s, but my No 1 The Staple Singers "Trippin On Your Love" from the LP This Time Around. pure soul.
  11. The Contempo should be ok, but O.U.T.P. is a bootleg label and the sound can be very hit and miss.
  12. Sorry Steve I don't know what's on in Madrid this weekend, but there was a big f**kin signing on party today there.
  13. Very well put Rod, but was it not Martin Koppal one of the 1st people to take imports to the wheel. I was too youg to go but that is what I got told. Dave.
  14. In fairness 1974 there was a lot of shit played out, but the good stuff far outdid the shit stuff Some of the best records ever where 1st played in 74
  15. One of our fav games as well, but it the other round. Lou can remember the words after 2 or 3 plays. I still get it wrong after 1000 plays.
  16. 2nd try at this see post 48 (which f++ked up.)
  17. [quote name='modernsoulsucks' date='04 July 2009 - 12:36 AM' timestamp='1246660571' post='1107799 I've not spoken to her since before we were married. ROD
  18. No we don't think where above eveyone else. it's just that everyone else is below us.
  19. I think I am lucky my other-half loves it Since I 1st took her to Bank Hall Miners in the mid 80s, she has never looked back. It's been a wonderfull journey up and down the UK, long may it continue. P.S. The Weekender we went to in Italy wasn't bad either.
  20. Yes it was booted on Soul Galore, but the S.I.R. original was quite cheap at one time. One of the records shop in Haslinden had it in stock on S.I.R. It was run by a lad called Andy Riding, who is no longer with us. Andy used to DJ with me at the Legion and the Band Club. He went on to do the Jenny and Rose Room with Ginger.
  21. Made sense to me when I read it.
  22. "Help Me" is not the same Al Wilson as "The Snake" Al Wilson.
  23. Hi Roger, I've only just seen this today. You can take the piss when you see me out! This is the 1st thing I have ever downloaded in my life! I've arrived in the 21st century Dave.
