Fabulous record which never quite broke for me in the 70's! Always loved it - beautiful production and catchy. If Lee Fields is £750 then this should be £1500 IMO! Ian D

Just routing through a shelf and I stumbled across 8 copies of a one-off 7" Salsoul pressing we did in 2004 on Joe Bataan of the brilliant, pure Northern "Continental Square Dance" (the original version of "Laso Square" - Laso) and the mid-tempo Latin-Soul "Johnny". I can't remember how many we did - I think it was only 250 and most of those went immediately and on export. So if you don't have it, then better grab it now as there aren't any more. £15.00 apiece inc P&P. If ya want one then PM me. First eight get the goodies then that's it I'm afraid. Just going through some stuff and re-played "I See Your Name" Voc & Inst - Chris Bartley on UK Right On! RO 105. I think it's a promo as it has a giant A on the vocal side. However I can't seem to turn up much on it and there seem to be very few listings for such a great record. So was it ever officially issued? I certainly haven't seen many copies......... You and many others Beeks. I'm amazed at the relatively low value of House era 12"'s these days - it's not really old enough for a scene to emerge yet. But Northern Soul's had 40 years to develop and nurture, plus the scene has now spread across the globe which is fueling the demand for original copies. We used to buy them @ 20 for a £1 in the early 70's in some cases, so over the years the collection has provided a good investment and got me through a few tough times! Naturally if circumstances allowed me to keep every piece of vinyl I'd ever bought, I'd have three houses full by now (apparently Guy Hennigan does have three houses full of vinyl, as someone told me yesterday LOL). I've actually gone through about 6 different collections at different stages of my life. I've always kept a solid nucleus of circa 5-10k records and the collection has ebbed and flowed along with my life. Also a lot of my original records have later emerged to be big records on the scene which is nice to see. But gone are the days of spending big money on 7" singles for me. The most I ever spent was maybe £100 in cash and swaps for any records and I've had many of the big ones at one stage or other. The way I've stayed sane with it all is simply to view my collection as a constantly evolving entity over 40 odd years. It's still evolving - I just picked up the best track I've heard all year yesterday, albeit on CD! I now have more music across the different formats than I've ever had in my entire life. The big problem is finding the time to listen to it all these days! Ian D

Hey Screamer! Suss'd Records was myself and my colleague Chris Barnett's label which was specifically set-up to reissue the bulk of the Salsoul catalogue in the UK and yes, we did licence "Janice" to Neil Rushton who who did the one-off 7" release for Soulvation. Looks like a nice collectors item now! I've attached an almost complete catalogue of what we reissued whilst we had the licence. In fact this is the kind of stuff I'll be playing up in Leeds on the 28th of next month, which'll be the first time you and me have deejayed together for, oh, at least, 30 years LOL! But stumbled into Abbey Road studios just as they were junking a load of masters and lo and behold, found a load of Marvin Gaye & Four Tops 2" Masters which don't appear on any lists.... Whoops. Look at that, my premium bonds have just come up for £25,000... Just time for a quick drink @ the Dorchester to hook up with Steve Wonder for a natter about MCing his live gigs......
