Well in that case my remaining 6 copies of Joe Bataan's "Contintental Square Dance" on the Sales thread should be bargain of the century then (shameless plug but if they want fast they've got it with that one)! So mid-tempo shuffling is not in vogue right now then LOL......? Ian D

I live in reality mate not the hotbox insanity LOL.....£300 is a great price for that record but it is one of my all-time faves! Sure doesn't seem to show up that much......... Had it a couple of times in the 70's and 80's grrrr....... Ian D
  3. Nowt at all in my memory. I seem to remember it being around just before I went to the states in '76 and then never heard much more about it.......... Ian D

Fabulous record which never quite broke for me in the 70's! Always loved it - beautiful production and catchy. If Lee Fields is £750 then this should be £1500 IMO! Ian D
  5. Yep, we did it as a limited-edition 7" to promote Eddie Piller's Salsoul "Crossover Flavas" album which is also worth picking up IMO! Cheers for your comments Mark - always nice to know one's efforts are appreciated! Best, Ian D
  6. OK, one just gone - seven left! Ian D
  7. Just routing through a shelf and I stumbled across 8 copies of a one-off 7" Salsoul pressing we did in 2004 on Joe Bataan of the brilliant, pure Northern "Continental Square Dance" (the original version of "Laso Square" - Laso) and the mid-tempo Latin-Soul "Johnny". I can't remember how many we did - I think it was only 250 and most of those went immediately and on export. So if you don't have it, then better grab it now as there aren't any more. £15.00 apiece inc P&P. If ya want one then PM me. First eight get the goodies then that's it I'm afraid. Here are the clips (my own label so should be OK here):- "Continental Square Dance" - Joe Bataan 17_Continental_Square_Dance__Original_7_____.mp3 "Johnny" - Joe Bataan 07_Johnny.mp3 As good a double-sider as I've ever heard! Good luck! Ian D 17_Continental_Square_Dance__Original_7_____.mp3 07_Johnny.mp3
  8. Cheers Mark. I saw that one in the price guides but what's the value of the UK copy out of interest? Ian D
  9. "I Found Love" Voc & Inst - H. Poindexter Lorac "Aggravation" - Martha Velez Sire Promo "Baby, Baby, My Heart" - The Adventurers Reading "This Is What It Ain't (The World Ain't Right)" - Lonnie Russ Note "People Try" - Early Editions Aries Plus two which are really beaten up but can't find any info about 'em....... "The Price" - Solomon Burke Atlantic Promo "I Think I Better Rest" - Calvin Arnold Sonday Promo Many thanks. Ian D
  10. An ex Torch 'secret sound' from '72 and bloody great but what does it go for these days? Thanks in advance? Ian D
  11. Just going through some stuff and re-played "I See Your Name" Voc & Inst - Chris Bartley on UK Right On! RO 105. I think it's a promo as it has a giant A on the vocal side. However I can't seem to turn up much on it and there seem to be very few listings for such a great record. So was it ever officially issued? I certainly haven't seen many copies......... Thanks in advance. Also a couple of other UK things I could do with prices on if poss...... "My Man" - Barry St John Decca F13529 "Here I Am, In Love Again" - The Brothers Two Action ACT4513 Ian D

Apologies for more intermittent mike and earphone probs this week but we still made it luckily! Once again it didn't affect the music luckily so still OK to listen...... 17. You and many others Beeks. I'm amazed at the relatively low value of House era 12"'s these days - it's not really old enough for a scene to emerge yet. But Northern Soul's had 40 years to develop and nurture, plus the scene has now spread across the globe which is fueling the demand for original copies. We used to buy them @ 20 for a £1 in the early 70's in some cases, so over the years the collection has provided a good investment and got me through a few tough times! Naturally if circumstances allowed me to keep every piece of vinyl I'd ever bought, I'd have three houses full by now (apparently Guy Hennigan does have three houses full of vinyl, as someone told me yesterday LOL). I've actually gone through about 6 different collections at different stages of my life. I've always kept a solid nucleus of circa 5-10k records and the collection has ebbed and flowed along with my life. Also a lot of my original records have later emerged to be big records on the scene which is nice to see. But gone are the days of spending big money on 7" singles for me. The most I ever spent was maybe £100 in cash and swaps for any records and I've had many of the big ones at one stage or other. The way I've stayed sane with it all is simply to view my collection as a constantly evolving entity over 40 odd years. It's still evolving - I just picked up the best track I've heard all year yesterday, albeit on CD! I now have more music across the different formats than I've ever had in my entire life. The big problem is finding the time to listen to it all these days! Ian D

Hey Screamer! Suss'd Records was myself and my colleague Chris Barnett's label which was specifically set-up to reissue the bulk of the Salsoul catalogue in the UK and yes, we did licence "Janice" to Neil Rushton who who did the one-off 7" release for Soulvation. Looks like a nice collectors item now! I've attached an almost complete catalogue of what we reissued whilst we had the licence. In fact this is the kind of stuff I'll be playing up in Leeds on the 28th of next month, which'll be the first time you and me have deejayed together for, oh, at least, 30 years LOL! Looking forward to it! Best, Ian D Salsoul_UK_Full_Catalogue_18.1.06.doc
  21. Great record that Jerry! Still my UK promo-only 12"......... Ian D
  22. Woke up this morning threw the curtains back, pissing down, grey cloud, put the telly on, saw the date and realised I'd slept all the way through Monday so it was all a dream............... No Angelina Jolie, no bacon sarnie, no lottery win, no Frank Wilson, no J-LO, no acetates, no Beyonce, no premium bond wins.......... Back to cruel reality I guess LOL.... Ian D
  23. Without the amphet at the time Malc - I didn't need anything interfering with my overall performance! Ian D
  24. Exhausted after Beyonce @ lunchtime and Myleene Class for afternoon tea and scones. But stumbled into Abbey Road studios just as they were junking a load of masters and lo and behold, found a load of Marvin Gaye & Four Tops 2" Masters which don't appear on any lists.... Whoops. Look at that, my premium bonds have just come up for £25,000... Just time for a quick drink @ the Dorchester to hook up with Steve Wonder for a natter about MCing his live gigs...... Great day so far........! Can it get any better? Ian D
  25. One man's cheese is another one's hard-cheddar my young friend. Had you been around in 1970 you too would have been instrumental in the hype that was Tony Turner at the time I'm sure! A sort of 'none-existent-hot-box-killer' I guess you'd call it nowdays LOL...... Ian D
