  1. At the risk of being hung drawn and Quartered by the northern soul ten commandement brigade Pookie Bloody Hudson I think its very souless and far too poppy , I just dont get it ? Which appears to cause no end of amusement to Browny when he plays for the 100000000000's that request and love it and then he sees me winsing with pain at the sound of it in the dark corner of the stage. I also dislike the "is that a guitar you are playing intro" ..in what shall I do , sounds so corney to my ears ... I guess having to hear it on repeat play for a number of years has made it become my Guanmontanmo bay tune , my ears shrivel at the prospect of hearing it Over to the badger baiters

  7. That was Nige's play , he was trying to slow me down ... for once it was me that was crankin it up . I shall post my selection up later on tonight , funny thing was I had selected prior to the event some really nice classy mellow tracks .. but as it turned out I wasn't in a mellow mood . I do recall saying to Nige lets stretch the bounderies, push all their buttons lol .. he then put Zafari on which really did shock a few lol , we thought it was fitting with a "Market place " always reminding us of Camden market. I personally found it very pleasing to play The Bamboos 'Step it up" . I was rewarded with a couple of ladies raising their heads above the clothes rails and then raising their eyebrows with a smile. also another lady was sort of Shaft walking across the room to the funky beat lol Reaction ..is the best compliment anyone can give you .. I think Kev came over and said you two are playing some very wierd stuff lol .... so our days could be numbered it was either going to work or not . I actually had a complete change of style when it came to playing. sort of shocked Nige .... I love double decking , it's much more fun when there is two playing together , it can be harder , it certainly inspires and motivates you to keep up and match/compliment your partner.
  8. :ph34r:Now the clue is the couple flew to england.........eeeeem was this to throw us off the saucy sent I ask myself perhaps to aid to the climb to the unveiling eeeeeem ? Come on god help me out here .... this could be a major cooop for the lady anoraks ... I could guess this tune I could jump mega toggles I will say Gerri Hall on Island ..actually wouldn't it be funny if it turned out to be a british label sold by americans Miss HP
  9. No worries I can see where you got it
  10. Nev whats the name of the album ? And how much does the album go for ? Thansk Carms x
  11. Exactly ! Side effects are not good , but I guess you have to weigh up if you can suffer to cure an ailment . I have numb feet and cramps in my toes as a result of medication for Blood Pressure, cramps play havoc when I am on the way to jumpin BTW I love Etta's Sunday Kind of love ... one I didn't know until recentely. Take care Carms x
  12. Sounds like you needed to get that off your chest Mark , I would say don't take one comment so much to heart, it really is JUST one opinion , it could be accompanied with 20 opinions that thought WOW ! you won't know cause they didn't think it was worth mentoning to you I heard another Dj mention the same type of issues the other week when he was playing in a freestyle room and got told he was rubbish for not playing northern. He had broad shoulders and a hard skin lol and just brushed it away. I think if you want to be individual you have to be really thick skinned on the scene because there are many opinionated people out there that will not hold back in giving their view. I think you do need to choose your venue with care if you want to champion something different and hopefully those that promote this type of event also keep on and broaden their Dj selection . I love to see an unknown quantity But in answer the Geeses question , no it hasn't spilt ...its Grown with a larger library , now whether all the books within the library suit you/all .... thats a matter of taste
  13. I think we are just growing older and becoming more accepting oin the variety of what we hear . Do you recall when you used to be in a gang of sorts , be it skinhead , suedehead , greaser , rocker , mod bladdy bla , how you sort of disliked anyone that wasnt part of your gang.... for example I would never listen to something like Jethrow Tull when I was giving the Al Capone shuffle .... oh no no. I bet mosts peoples soulful taste has changed over the years ..if they live breath and eat it. I have grown up now and with each year I experiment and delve into loads of different things , same applies to soul .. I was ignorant 10 years ago , at that time I never let the slower pace in.... now I do ....and I love all of it. So yes Soul is a Dynamic environment for me ..... it changes and takes twists in the road making it exciting and demanding of my time to keep up ! .....never dull
  14. Just one question from me Lorraine .... I hope you had a good nap , I am still laughing at Mick D going into turbo anorak mode Would you have done anything differentely thus far? For me main things in life are your Health and your family and to be loved by someone special .... what's your outlook if its not too personal.... just to give you a break from grooves and matrix numbers Carms x
  15. I always wonder is it best for a sound to have an instant appeal or one that grows on you . But then maybe its better to think in terms of personal preference some sounds to the listener can be heard over and over again and still have the same initial appeal.
  16. The thing to remember Chalks is it got hammered at the venues you go to , I must say that I only got into it last year and it does appear to me one that always draws the dancers tot he floor on the 'soul night circuit' ... not being a night owl I can't comment on it being hammered at nighters so I take your point. Carms
  17. I could never call this a boring tune ? I could I never sell it if I owned it ... I asked Soul Sam onceif he rowuld sell his and he replied oh no no I could never part with my bear
  18. I was trying to thumb through all the pages in this post to see if any girls have said Hi , and then I saw how many posts I would have to trawl through these boys are like Bees around a honey pot I can't find the girls for the boys . So from one female to another let me offer you a Jammy dodger as I do to all my american friends ( Ralf on SDF) as they find this gift highly amusing and very nice with a cup of tea ... and a big hug to a great soul sister . Or you may prefer one of these Mr Obama loved it the other day Carms x
  19. Yes this is a little different , strange I was only playing my one on Blue Rock only yesterday and thought this sounds like a sound that could take off big time as it packs a nice punch but not to frantic ... I would imagine its popular with the young European crowd ? Notice this version is lets say a bit smoother , less on the horns and punch. Niiiiiice for a collector though. I always think of Nick Brown when I hear Pic & Bill he introduced me to some great P&B sounds Walk so fine and the obvious one Talk about love. Actualy my Talk about love is the french one , are there any differences between this one and the one on Charey ?

  21. What a fab event this was , far exceeded all my expectations . I knew it would be good , but it was like the icing on the cake , sooooooo many good tunes played. I felt really honoured to be playing a few of my own babies in the company of really great "forward " thinking players , thanks for inviting us Paul we found the whole time spent at the sands like being charged into 10000's volt soul charger. I now understand why there is an air craft on the roundabout outside the venue , because we were all flying yesterday , Pats set took me into orbit , my god she was a bright light yesterday so many I didn't know of her set and they all sounded so damn good .... what an ambasador for the ladies choice she was. I was just blown away by her set. The location was so lovely too , seeing that red sky as the sun went down , dancers were few because the attendance wasn't in high numbers but the listeners were plenty , you have a lot to be proud of Paul you laid on banquet of soul for us to feast on. We must do it again !
  22. Lol Geoff I thought you had been painting your nails for a minute lol , why not get an old record from a shop for about 10p that isn't soul and experiment on the old record before you apply it to your friends prized record Simples Carms x
