  4. Well said .
  5. Steve/Dave, very sad new's indeed , heard the rumour a couple of years ago that it was ear marked to be pulled down, so we've had the time to enjoy the alnighter's there. Winsford is one of my favourite venue's and it will be a sad day when it end's, I alway's had a great time there, everyone being friendly, great atmosphere and a big dance floor that was loved by all ('big, I must have walked round it hundred's of time's', 'count the mile's'), and I will be there at the end for one more lap . Well done all who was involved in this great venue , and best of luck in finding another place. Willie
  6. Chris/Marcelle, very sad new's to hear this, but I can understand your reason's for your decision. The CIS has left a lasting memory that rate's with the best. A big thank you for all the hard work you put in and giving all of us so much enjoyment over the past 5 year's. I look forward to seeing you both out at a venue soon. Willie
  7. well spotted mate, yeah need new glasses
  8. Ahh, thank's for your concern Nick, at the moment my big toe is tapping to a deep soul tune. , circa 1968. quote: oxford dictionary, Soul: a kind of music using elements of gospel and rhythm and blues .
  9. Where's the SOUL in modern!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , there's more in my big toe.
  10. The one that alway's stick's in my mind is the tune from Banana Split's......tra la la...la la la la...tra la la...la la la la.......

  13. Hi Mate, don't know if i'm a bit late as you might have left already, is it posible to keep me a LP box, and i'll see you at Middleton. You and Hannah have a gud'n at Cleggy , Watch out the soulbarner will be about . Willie ps, got a new cd ready for you.
  14. Barry, I've been in and out the soul scene for forty years, just got back into it seriously the last 12 year's. The venue's that do it for me as highlighted above are. Burnley alnighter, run by Phil, a pure devotee of 60's music, with quality dj's that has the place just buzzing, just like the old venue's did. Barnsley alnighter, run by two people who have just got into the scene a few year's ago, they are both only 21 year's old and are so dedicated to the scene, with so much enthusiasm which comes across on the night. Both of these venue's stand out in a big way IMHO. If you hav'nt been, give them a go. They both make me feel good like I used to many years ago. I hope it does it for you as well. Willie
  15. My cup of tea tho Nick, a breath of fresh air, brilliant set last saturday at Middleton, I don't want to hear the same o same o. Well done matey. Willie
  16. Good luck on your new venture, is'nt it great to hear that this is a change of not going down the root our corner shop's, ie: closing. Record shop's, one of the great British institution's. All the best Wilie
  17. Hey up Terry, the Ledg would'nt look at it, see you tomorrow matey, I might have something to show you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Sorry done it twice, it's that bad.
  19. Not for me either, the backing sound's familier, 60's pop. just because it's fast 60's does'nt mean it's good. Willie
  20. About Eight year's ago the company that I am with moved to new premises in Warrington, and we had a customer open day, Our guest speaker on the night was Sir Gordon Banks and they wanted some music to play in the background, and one of the office girl's got some cd's from their car which was the normal hit's crap, I shouted out get some 'Northern Soul on', and two engineer's that I had known for four years came up and said 'I use to go to Wigan', so we had a good old natter about the music/scene, I went to the car and got some cd's which we played at one of the guy's work benches, we were then joined by Gordon Banks who said that he enjoyed Northern Soul, and he mentioned a few top tunes that he liked. What was going to be a boring night turned out into a very memorable one . I offered to take one of the engineer's to a do and he is now very active on the scene. The strange big/small world of Northern Soul, It's great ain't it . Willie
  21. Good thread Terry, I normally leave at the end, but I have also thought about leaving a bit early a few times at venue's as the dj's were not doing it for me , and I start to think 'i'll wait and see what the next one is like', then they start playing a great set that perk's me up, and I think 'hang on this is the business' and I end up staying for the duration, There's been a few dj,s who did it for me. - Bob, Steve Green, Karl Heard, Ted Couldstone (Bidds last week), Nick Hackett, Baz Maleady and one or two more that's slipped my mind at the moment. Willie
  22. And ME. Willie
