massive at morecambe always seems to get no recognition it deserves the first 3 years at the central pier were unreal. Possibly the best attended allnighter in the country at that time. Shame had some quality nights there great mixture of oldies and modern. talked to richard searling and he said the pier was an unreal allnighter one of the best in his opinion

This is now going way to deep for my liking some say they have but on the whole it doesn't seem to be an issue at all with the scene. To segregate every colour,country,north/south divide to counties is taking it to the extreme in my honest opinion. apart from a few instances over 40+ years we should be proud of it and look at it as a positive.This is just my humble opinion and think its great to of been part of something which hasn't been tarnished by race/colour or any other discrimination.

never heard of any racism at any all nighters i knew a couple of black lads vernon and smokey and they wouldn't of taken that off anyone. Craig charles must have been on his crack pipe again. the bloke is a joke cant ever remember him at any soul events. its a bit ironic really 100s of people travelling round the country listening and dancing to mostly black american soul music.its total insult to the people how are and have been on the scene some of which have been for 40 years and more.

loved 80s and 90s the gulf between the 60s newies crowd against the oldies/modern crowds. so many great venues allerton and the scotish djs were great colin lawes. blackburn for the desire to keep the scene moving forward. keele was good early days to great times,great friends and not forgetting the tunes that turned up in them days

agree with you about no one in security have a incident free life but its how kev/goldsoul has handled this situation came out calling him an attention seeker yep in his hindsight he could of told security but he felt he and his wife had to leave venue to the possible idiot still outside waiting. as he said there must of been 30 years between them and felt intimidated. The way goldsoul has always trying to turn it around instead of taking it as a unforeseen incident and promise to look into improving security on dance floor area. in essence as a promoter he has different values to you and mick and is his full time income(radio/promoter/etc) and thats the difference between oldies events to smaller venues better run and isnt NORTHERN SOUL / MOTOWN its rare soul and under played music . Been interesting and eye opening thread but ive said me piece take care bud

sorry chalky disagree with you the guy felt threatened about leaving the venue and looked after his wife and himself this his the way he wanted to deal with it. i hope kev/goldsoul take this on board that there is issues and his 10 strong security to be more vigilant. ive been involved in promoting and its either a poor security firm or cause its a soul event thats not had much trouble previously security has let the guard down and let kev/goldsoul down as mick pointed out

i would of thought if you had come on here and asked him to pm you with what happen and you could look into it and say u would do your best to try and keep his sort out, you could of got a lot of praise for being a concerned promoter not saying your not. Its happening at a lot of venues not just yours. its could of been a plus for you.

This is a soul forum for like minded soul people to converse about our experiences.He experienced an incident at your event and shared it with his fellow members of soul source not golden 101 forum. rough with the smooth happy to take the pats on the back but sulk when someone complains the joy of promoting. as for calling someones opinion being an insult you need to get a grip sounding like a person how no longer allowed on the forum.
