  1. Best offers PM'd to me by 12 Noon Saturday 8th. If no sale or I don't like what's being offered, then they'll be listed and Ebay and PayPal get more profits from fees, etc. Ernie Andrews "Fine young girl" b/w "Then I'll know" Capitol stock - scan shows the label to be in pretty good nick, just the slightest bit of ring wear, but that's it really. Not so good is the vinyl. The visible scuffs and light scratches do cause the odd "pop and tick" here and there, but just given it another spin (both sides) and it sounds nice and loud and clear to me. I think I'm on pretty solid ground calling this a VG, it's probably a bit better in someone's book but it'll do for me. Patti Austin "Music to my heart" b/w "Love 'em and leave 'em kind of love" ABC demo - the scan should show that the labels are a little "scruffy" let's say, nothing too detrimental, just the odd tiny mark and blemish (I got that from JM's site!). The vinyl is fine, both sides play loud and clear and you don't need me to tell you ..... Classic!!!! I'd conservatively grade the playing surface as VG+ but maybe better, only you can tell. As with previous giveaway items, PayPal ONLY please. I'll let both winners and runners-up the results (that's if anyone gets in touch) after the deadline on Saturday. Postage sorted at the time of sale, I won't rob you though! Want more detail, sound clips, etc, get PM-ing. Best, Steve PS. Anyone out there interested in a VG+ copy of Annette Snell's first outing on Juggy? PM me.

Thanks for the interest guys and gals. Both discs will shortly be winging their way to new, good homes. Winners and runners up all PM'd. Cheers, Steve

OK, no takers for offers then. Howzabout a tenner each + postage? They've gotta go! Don't make me put them up on Ebay!!!! First PM gets 'em!

Couple of quick sales please. Best offer PM'd to me by 4PM TODAY gets you the disc in the post tomorrow. If no sale, then I'll drop the price to something ridiculous and let you fight amongst yourselves (possibly). The Ambers "I love you baby" b/w "Now I'm in trouble" Verve demo - scan shows the red marker "WOL", it's on both sides as well as some light water damage to the labels. The GOOD NEWS is that the vinyl is fine, hardly a blemish or mark worth mentioning. Despite this, I'm gonna call it VG+, so there can be no silly buggering! Others would comfortably call this MINT, but we all know that's a flavour not a standard! Ace Spectrum "Don't send nobody else" b/w "Don't let me be lonely tonight" Atlantic stock - this un's the other way round in that the labels are perfect, but the vinyl has a handful of the slightest bubbles in the vinyl and a couple of very very light scuffs that HONESTLY DNAP, lets go nap and call it VG. Both bargains? I dunno, we'll see. PayPal ONLY please ladies and gentlemen. My account is lebaron@lineone.net . Let's say £1.00 for recorded, I'm not that fussed to a few pence. Anything else, get PM-ing. Steve

of the best and quickest way to "dispose" of a smallish record collection. Life circumstances mean that I will shortly need to get shut of my lovingly put together (since '98)collection of 45's (and a handful of albums), circa 2.5 - 3K or so. All sleeved up with the exception of about 500 or so more recent purchases that haven't gone through the washer. Not all mint by any stretch, they're "working" copies. I'm assuming that we're talking fairly major dealers here? I need to ship them out all in one go, so the idea of someone picking over the best bits and leaving the rest will not work. I need to put my hands on the cash in one lump as well. Help/advice/sarky comments please Ooops! should this go into "Look at your box"?

Looks like you're the only one who has got into soul over the last few years Simes and it also looks as though the bounds of Bearsy's enthusiasm have been found! Seriously, I'd be interested on the thoughts of any newbies and how intimdated they are by the motley collection of "born in the 50's" old farts on here!
  7. I've looked in all the major guides and Googled it as well, but I can't find anything about any tracks by the Queens Horses on Gold Carriage! Any chance of a clip anyone?
  8. On the pozz side, saw these when they first went up some months ago as a Buy it Now. Got mine no probs.
  9. Just picked a UK 45 one up off t'Bay for 3 quid including postage (and its a demo). Told ya!
  10. Ayup JM, when are we going to get a new edition of the Bootleg Guide? Mine's wearing a bit thin with all the action currently. Gotta be worth a tenner of anybodys money, whaaaaa?

Oh the irony of covering this up as Sam & Kitty! and they say there's no humour on the scene. Any road up, covered up? Yes, with a good thick layer of concrete!
  12. Might be Paul. Manship has a 45 for sale @ $17.77 (?????) on Uk ABC 4199 with "For your love" on the flip. I'll hang about for a cheaper one methinks.

Sean, who's Russ? Surely not someone else in Boza into Soul? I thought it was only me! On the Ovide line, not heard of that one, I used/use the listing in VFtS Issue 23 as a listing with recommendations as a benchmark. Can you point me in the direction of a more comprehensive one?

Ayup Geoff. If you're worried about looking silly on this site, forget it or join me. 'cause soon as I post this someone will come up with his entire life story. As far as I know this was his only release on the label, Ovide 242 - "Everything about you" b/w "Love with hope", or anywhere else as far as that. Unless others know better. It's DEFINATELY not the drony gravel voiced long haired dude, that JT would have to go someway to match this effort. IMHO not that easy to pick up, I waited an age during my "Ovide" collecting phase (still trying to acquire 257 Pete Mays) and finally got a minty from the lovely Roger Banks for about 25 quid.

Ditto with the Juggy 45, paid around $50 in Jan 2005 for mine, never seen another one since. On the Epic 45, you do see a regular supply of the demo but only ever seen 1 issue in 9 years of looking. Got close once, but got sniped! Wasn't a lot either, around $70 springs to mind. I think you're right re:BK, but with Kent doing the Dial Records story CD, its only a matter of time before they lock onto the "missing" album tapes that all true Snell-ites crave. Do need more info, scans, etc. on the Love Hill disc tho' Oh, where will it all end!

Ahhh LarsC, the impeccable Annette Snell, having finally got her "Annette" 45 on Juggy, I now pine for the day when Buddy Killen releases the unreleased cuts allegedly in the Dial vaults recorded just before her massively untimely death. The issue of her Epic 45 is so haaaaarrrrd too! Annette_Snell___It_s_all_over_now.mp3
  18. Cheers Pete, trying to avoid the 'bay if poss. Looking for a cash sale (my friend not me) for both items if possible. My mate also has other "freakbeat"/"psych" stuff (and possibly some UK issue soul stuff, which I'll be negotiating a price for myself, of course), e.g. Anteeks on Phillips and Dantalians Chariot, etc. which he may be willing to part with. So possibly looking for a longer term relationship with a dealer as he lets these pieces go.
  19. Not really for this forum I know, but could do with a bit of advice from the "experts". I'm disposing of a couple of non-soul 45's for a friend, namely a Birds Birds 45 on Reaction and a Joe Cocker related EP Sheffield Rag 45. Can anyone advise of a reputable dealer/trader who I could contact for a genuine valuation and possible sale? Any help much appreciated. PS. I've tried Greg Vandyke in the South West, but he's ill at the moment so has suspended buying/selling activities. Cheers
  20. Oooooh! Just played that Joe Simon track, man alive, I'm off to grab one NOW!!!! This is what SS is all about. 5 minutes ago I hadn't heard this and now I gotta have it. I possibly would have gone through the remainder of my life without hearing this ...... enough already! Any more for any more?

Can't find this listed anywhere. The Entertainers "Beg me" on Bowmar, a NC label, sounds "beachy" to me. Anybody have any ideas? I need a rough value for my insurance listing. Cheers Peeps. Soundclip anyone? I'll get round to clipping the flip later. The_Entertainers___Beg_me.MP3

Just read the MT interview from Dave R. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have touched the hem of God's garment. All our lives would have been so much more different had Mike Terry not been gifted to us. Thank you Mike.

Tell you what would be a cracking idea. Kent do a "Dave Hamilton" job on Mike, gotta be worth a double CD or a three volume set. I'd be bloody near the front of the queue to buy that, even if I'd got a load already on vinyl/CD. Add to list my own particular favorite, Jack Daniels (with or without Johnny Moore), purveyor(s) of the finest sounds that the Windy City has ever offered, bar none!

Aaah! Bowling shirts. Mine had "Toliver & Curle paving" on the back, I'd like to think it had something to do with Kim's old man now! Also, was I the only one who, having failed to acquire a black leather trench coat, plumped for the cheaper bu way less cool, US Army surplus dressing gown in blue corduroy? Yes? No? Just me then!
