The Infamous 'Leeds Central Soul Club' Presents it's 2nd Alldayer of 2021. Sunday October 10th, 1pm-8pm, at the brilliant 'HiFi' Club, the original venue of the Leeds Central since the 1960s. Some of the original Resident DJs from the beginning of the clubs history, will be playing all your fave tunes, and maybe a few that will become your faves in the future. Classic Northern Soul, Tamla Motown and 60s RnB is on the menu for this event. Only £7 on the door on the day. -
Unfortunately, as suspected, the 'Leeds Central Soul Club' Alldayer at 'HiFi Club' on Sunday June 27th, has had to be postponed and rescheduled for Sunday August 15th 2021. We feel that this date, being almost 1 month after the scheduled opening up of the country, and the easing of the Covid-19 restrictions on the 19th July, will give plenty of time to hopefully get back to somewhere near normal. I, and the HiFi club, apologise for any inconvenience caused due to the event reschedule but there is no other choice. This is a ticket only event to maximise safety. BRILLIANT WRITE UP The Central is still known as 'Home' to many of the soulies that used to go in the 70s and indeed now to the 10 years and counting bi-monthly reunions, still held in the same venue now called 'HiFi', nothing has changed there apart from the layout, but the atmosphere is still to die for. I started going there in I think about 1970, I had just got into Northern by that time after spending many days and night as the 'Old Mecca' (Spinning Disc), where i got my first taste of Tamla Motown and fell in love instantly. The Central was exactly as described in the original post, a rectangle shape, 90% dance floor, with a bar in one corner and the DJ stand in the other, where DJs Tony Banks (RIP), Swish, Twink etc. would reside, playing the new tracks that they had found, or had been given to them to play. I was a dancer in the early days and did pretty well coming 2nd at the Casino competition out of about 100 entries, and after 2nd again at Cleethorpes Pier, being presented with a cup (which I still have) and £25 as my prize, by the Trammps , who were appearing there on the night. I became Resident DJ at the Central at a later date after asking the owner 'Len Cave' if I could do a spot, I did the week after and must have done OK as he asked me to be resident straight after my set. The Leeds Central was and is a massive part of my life, I met lifelong friends there of who mostly are still around and still frequent the alldayers. The guy with the long hair and the brown leather bomber jacket named in the original post is called 'Gary Field', he's not on the scene anymore, but I still speak to him regularly. First of 2020 And celebrating the 9th year of out amazing reunions, first was in February 2011, and there hasn't been a bad one yet. Every Alldayer is better than the last (Customer opinion) This time we are celebrating with a no holds barred Residents event, with the original and newer residents over the past 9 years. Spinners on the day will be; Steve Luigi, Chris Mallows, Mike Eastwood, Keith Atkinson, Sammy Seaman, Tony Jackson and Twink All Hell bent on playing you the best tunes and keeping the floor full from beginning to end. Come and experience the unique electric atmosphere that this historic event always produces, in the venue that the 'Leeds central Soul Club' started off in in 1968. I have the 'Spanish' release of this from 1971, it is the Extended version. Has anyone any idea when the 'Yesteryear' one was released. It says '1970' on the label, but I think that is when it was first issued? Anyone?

Yes it was rubbish Ezzie, but I seem to remember there were some dance podiums scattered around the flood willy nilly, not that that made it any better like LOL 🙂, I was a dancer back then and don't think I even bothered.

Glad you like them Rob, Me too. I have got a lot more into buying memorabilia from our soulful legends. I also have 'AFTRA' documents, a USA Musician and Artist union, signed by The Tempos, Leon Heywood and Marlena Shaw. One offs and look amazing. I have them all framed.
