  1. Hi all, this may have been done before. If so, please bear with me. I've been listening to clips of Love On A Lease Plan by these two artists and, frankly, I can't spot any difference between them. I don't have the most trained of ears, so can anyone shed any light on this please? Cheers John
  2. Hi Headsy, sent you a PM. Cheers John

  4. Always had something interesting and informative to add to any post. His shows were brilliant, different and educational. Chicago soul, and a lot more. RIP

  6. What are the upcoming dates for the Olde Spa please? Please send me a PM. Thanks.
  7. More nonsense that is slowly degrading the soul scene.
  8. Haha, ok point made. Thanks for the info on JT. To be honest, when I read your first piece it didn't click who you were. I don't think we've ever communicated before. I've not seen Tim in years, so I think I'll leave well alone. ATB John
  9. Clearly, though I never assumed, I have been assured, many times. So any idea which ones were legit?
  10. This is very interesting. I've had this on a Goldmine demo for many years, but never played it out as I was assured that ALL Goldmine releases were bootlegs. If this is legit, then it meets OVO requirements, yes? Any info much appreciated. John
  11. Personally, I like this record, though it's been severely overplayed (bootlegs!!!), but mine cost me about what you suggest, £60 or so, and it's NM.
  12. Honest question, not a dig, is this really fetching this sort of money nowadays? Note the visual condition as VG-. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOBBY-DAY-Rare-N-Soul-BUZZ-BUZZ-BUZZ-PRETTY-LITTLE-GIRL-NEXT-DOOR-1963-RCA-/360503168043?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item53efa9cc2b
  13. Hi all, confusion - I've just purchased a demo of this by Big Maybelle (Savoy 1512), and it's a different recording altogether. It is much slower, and although the words seem right, you'd never know it was the same as Chuck or the song posted earlier in this piece. Anyone know the story? Cheers John I've just found this on a London release, but this is the song, still on Savoy 45-1512.

  21. Darnall Horti in Sheffield has been going for 5 years now, and we play just about anything. Our guests choose for themselves. Our sister Sunday chillout at the Church House follows the same ethos, very similar to the Horse and Groom and, to a fair extent, frequented by the same crowd. Check us out if you're ever in our neck of the woods. Events are posted on SS and FB.
  22. Many thanks to everyone who contributed. So long as it's legit, I'm ok with it. Tidied up a question about the other one with 'Dr. Love' and 'Sweet Sweet Love' as well.
  23. Hi all, This has probably been asked before, but can anyone clarify please whether the above record, Bobby Paris - I Walked Away / H.B. Barnum - Heartbreaker on British Capitol CL 16067, is a legal release, and exactly what year it came out? Much appreciated John
