  1. Motown mostly used red vinyl for their promo releases. There were some yellow and blue vinyl promos in the 70's. I don't think I've ever seen purple vinyl for a Motown release, have seen it on Okeh though.
  2. I've never heard the record played on the radio or tv. In fact, the only time I heard it played out was at one of Soul Trip U.S.A. events. It's probably only known to Motown collectors and among record collectors.
  3. I plan on buying the record. I'm not a Hipster don't have a big trendy beard , flat as pancake "kung fu" shoes or skinny denim jeans. There are people who live in the U.S. who collect and love Soul music. Think we all need to calm down !
  4. It was recorded in L.A. and released by a company based in Detroit. When they said "Stay in Detroit" , I'm guessing they mean as opposed to the other copies which now reside in Europe.
  5. Another great track from Doris ...
  6. Fine album only track. Just edges out the Four Tops version for me.
  7. That was a shock! I would have never guessed that song would be on Philly Int'l or TSOP. "The Big Hurt" is also the flip side to "Do It Any Way You Wanna" in the U.S.
  8. Don't think this one was mentioned yet ...
  9. I'm guessing this is basically the same group as the Brockington Singers on TSOP ?
  10. I know this isn't on Philly Int'l but, it could easily pass as a 3 Degrees song.
  11. Almost forgot how good this is! Superb re-interpretation of Elton's classic... lassic...
  12. Print ad for the Classic 45.... Sorry this print is so big!
  13. One more for the playlist ....
  14. One more from the O'Jays ...
  15. I've seen "item is no longer available" but never had the listing disappear. The seller probably got an offer from a buyer he couldn't pass up.
  16. Good choice- almost forgot about it. Reminds me of .....
  17. My favorite track from the "Summertime" album. And with Spring right around the corner- it seems like a good idea.
  18. I think this might have been a U.S. bootleg label - all the other releases are from all over the place- Shirley Ellis "Soul Time", Parliaments "I Wanna Testify", Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs- "May I", the C.O.Ds- "Michael". I have the Parliaments on Canadian Transworld and I've seen the Darrell Banks on other Canadian labels so I suspect this is from the U.S.
  19. A copy in excellent condition sold for $129.62 (USD) about a year and a half ago.
  20. Another great one from Sharon and the group
  21. This wouldn't have made my Top 10 but does get big bonus points for being such an improvement on the original.
  22. Yes- that' where it came from.
