soul people on the TV or in movies
Sounds like it was another American International movie. They specialized in low budget movies aimed at teenagers- "The Ghost In The Invisible Bikini", "Muscle Beach Party", "Bleach Blanket Bingo", "Bikini Beach", "It's A Bikini World", "Ski Party" etc. etc. But... on the plus side they usually featured at least one Soul act in their movies (The Supremes, James Brown, The Toys, Stevie Wonder) .

There was a thread about this a few years back. Type "What is this, Johnny Sayles" in the search box and you can read the topic.

DARRELL BANKS AMERICAN BANDSTAND SHOW?
I think "Where The Action Is" is still a good bet since it was affiliated with Dick Clark Productions. "Shindig" and "Hullabaloo" would be two other good sources. Good luck with the Darrell Banks clip- would love to see it!

COMMODORES AUTOGRAPHS
There were 3 other Commodores in the group at the time of "Zoom"- Ronald LaPread , Milan Williams and Walter Orange. The last signature doesn't look like Ronald Lapread, Walter Orange is "Walter the Brick House Man" so it probably is Milan Williams ?

It's also a reference to Johnnie Taylor's big U.S. hit "Jody's Got Your Girl And Gone.." (Stax #0085).

Classics uncovered: last releases on the label
Not sure how Jean Plum got on the list. The last release on the label before it got distribution from Cream was Hi #2324- Al Green- "Love And Happiness"/ "Glory, Glory". After that, Cream started a new numbering system that ran from #77501 (O.V. Wright- "Into Something(Can't Shake Lose"/ "Time We Have" ) to 81534 (Ann Peebles- "Mon Belle Amour"/ "Waiting") with the first two digits being the year of release. Jean had another release in this run- Hi #78515- "Pour On The Loving"/ "You Ask Me".

True Tones
Has anyone ever seen a copy of the True Tones on Musicor? A very popular price guide lists "He's Got The Nerve"/ "Every Man Needs A Woman..." on Musicor #1188. Musicor #1188 is J.B. Troy - "Ain't It The Truth"/ "Every Man Needs a Woman". So ... is the Musicor release a listing error ??

Record labels with a Bizarre Basis for their name
I don't think it was a bootleg label. If you look at the label, this version of "Fine Fine Frame" is "Acapella" where the original version wasn't. I don't know if they remade the original versions or released Acapella versions of the originals.

You are correct Sir! I believe the label was owned by Joe Brown ?

Eddie Sull - comparison between Marc / Renee
I think you've got the L.A. based Marc label mixed up with the Chicago based Marc label. Although the Eddie Sull release (#102) falls within the range of the L.A. based label run (# 101- #107 , with #102 being unknown) , compare the logo on the Center Stage release ("Are You There" - Marc #7845) with the Eddie Sull 45 and you'll see they are the same.

Record labels named after the owner/owners
A few more- Mi-Val (Mike Valvano) , Dakar (Carl Davis- It was originally Dacar but changed to avoid confusion with Decca), Bashie ( Carl Davis' wife Basheba. That's her on the cover of Ramsey Lewis' "Wade In The Water" album) , Kelli- Arts (Carl Davis's daughter Kelli). Pee Vee (Pancho Villa). Not sure how much involvement he had in Villa Records.
