  1. Thanks for the link to the video- really enjoyed the clip.
  2. I don't think this was released as a 45 in the U.S., it is on the "You're All I Need" album though.
  3. Never saw that one- will have to look into it!
  4. Sounds like it was another American International movie. They specialized in low budget movies aimed at teenagers- "The Ghost In The Invisible Bikini", "Muscle Beach Party", "Bleach Blanket Bingo", "Bikini Beach", "It's A Bikini World", "Ski Party" etc. etc. But... on the plus side they usually featured at least one Soul act in their movies (The Supremes, James Brown, The Toys, Stevie Wonder) .
  5. I don't think any of these have been mentioned yet- 1) Staple Singers- "Trippin' On Your Love" 2) Carla Thomas- "I'll Never Stop Loving You" 3) Levi and the Vandellas- "Oh, I've Been Blessed" 4) Carolyn Crawford- Until You Came Along" 5) J.J. Barnes- "Ain't It The Truth"
  6. There was a thread about this a few years back. Type "What is this, Johnny Sayles" in the search box and you can read the topic.
  7. Great choices so far- here's a few more for the list- 1) Jimmy Ruffin- "He Who Picks A Rose" 2) Spinners- "What More Could A Boy Ask For" 3) Temptations- "That'll Be The Day" 4) Gladys Knight and the Pips- "Here Are The Pieces Of My Broken Heart" 5) Gladys Knight and the Pips- "If You Ever Get Your Hands On Love"
  8. Samson and Delilah- "Will You Be Ready" June (Conquest) and Donnie (Hathaway) - "I Thank You Baby" William Bell and Judy Clay- "Private Number" any Marvin and Tammi "Never , Never Let You Go" - Eddie Floyd and Mavis Staples
  9. Bob Relf co-wrote (with Earl Nelson) and produced the classic "Try A Little Harder" for the Fi-Dels on Keymen.
  10. I think "Where The Action Is" is still a good bet since it was affiliated with Dick Clark Productions. "Shindig" and "Hullabaloo" would be two other good sources. Good luck with the Darrell Banks clip- would love to see it!
  11. The Toys performed "Attack" in the movie "It's A Bikini World" . James Brown sang "I Got You (I Feel Good) " in the movie "Ski Party".
  12. Stevie appeared in 2 movies- "Muscle Beach Party" and "Bikini Beach".

There were 3 other Commodores in the group at the time of "Zoom"- Ronald LaPread , Milan Williams and Walter Orange. The last signature doesn't look like Ronald Lapread, Walter Orange is "Walter the Brick House Man" so it probably is Milan Williams ?
  14. The Supremes appeared on the television show Tarzan.

It's also a reference to Johnnie Taylor's big U.S. hit "Jody's Got Your Girl And Gone.." (Stax #0085).

I always thought it was "ease on out of my way " but who knows ?
  17. The Intruders- "(Love Is Like A) Baseball Game".

  19. Thanks for posting !
  20. Not sure how Jean Plum got on the list. The last release on the label before it got distribution from Cream was Hi #2324- Al Green- "Love And Happiness"/ "Glory, Glory". After that, Cream started a new numbering system that ran from #77501 (O.V. Wright- "Into Something(Can't Shake Lose"/ "Time We Have" ) to 81534 (Ann Peebles- "Mon Belle Amour"/ "Waiting") with the first two digits being the year of release. Jean had another release in this run- Hi #78515- "Pour On The Loving"/ "You Ask Me".
  21. Has anyone ever seen a copy of the True Tones on Musicor? A very popular price guide lists "He's Got The Nerve"/ "Every Man Needs A Woman..." on Musicor #1188. Musicor #1188 is J.B. Troy - "Ain't It The Truth"/ "Every Man Needs a Woman". So ... is the Musicor release a listing error ??
  22. I don't think it was a bootleg label. If you look at the label, this version of "Fine Fine Frame" is "Acapella" where the original version wasn't. I don't know if they remade the original versions or released Acapella versions of the originals.
  23. I've always wondered what the owners were thinking when they chose this name-
  24. You are correct Sir! I believe the label was owned by Joe Brown ?
  25. I think you've got the L.A. based Marc label mixed up with the Chicago based Marc label. Although the Eddie Sull release (#102) falls within the range of the L.A. based label run (# 101- #107 , with #102 being unknown) , compare the logo on the Center Stage release ("Are You There" - Marc #7845) with the Eddie Sull 45 and you'll see they are the same.
