well ,said mrs dave ,what shall we do on this beautiful sunny day .I suggested no better way to spend the afternoon than having a short ride up to Morley and listen to sunday soul. For those of you who have never ventured out to this  lovely pub ,with a secluded beer garden and sun trap, what you waiting for ?. some very interesting sets played during the afternoon by some accomplished d/js. I include Diane L in that to :):) she played a blinder.Good to catch up again with steve C ,always a story to tell and to keep us informed of future events ,looking forward to hearing Diane and Steve in Whitby at the market place.Lovely  afternoon spent in the company of some very nice soulies, some new and some familiar faces.I was in my element ,the Mrs let me have a pint or two and i was listening to some lovely sunday soul tunes in a great and very nice surroundings. What were you doing ? :(:( Get yourself along to the next one in july ,you will be glad you did.

Tara for now

YUM YUM TREE BOBBY BLAND

" sad and lonely , heart full of sorrow
sad and lonely , no hope for tommorrow.
all i have is yesterday memories that hurt me
why did she have to stray and take my candy away "

great soul record from 1971 sung with feeling by bobby bland.

born 1930 and recently departed june 2013 age 83 , robert bland was a blues singer born in tennessee.

he was often known as the "sinatra of the blues "

Bobby Bland never went to school. He was illiterate throughout his life.

Bland was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1981, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, the Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2012, and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.[5] The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame described him as "second in stature only to B.B. King as a product of Memphis's Beale Street blues scene".

Bland continued performing until shortly before his death. He died on June 23, 2013, at his home in Germantown, Tennessee,
