Guest Stephen Faulkner Posted December 27, 2016 Can you make clear wether you have to book a table or can you just pay on the door anyway as someone told me that you HAVE to prebook to gain entry. Link to comment
Guest Stephen Faulkner Posted January 1, 2017 Had a good (not fantastic) night at the Civic for New Years "party" The music was great , the food was , at least on our table , lukewarm , chips were cold. It might have been a good idea to have put the lights on for a little while as on some tables you couldn't see what you were eating ,some were using their mobile phone light to see. Napkins were noticeable by their absence. The booking a table in my opinion was a disaster , anyone enquiring for tickets for maybe their self like me or even a couple by phone could think it was to much of a formal event were you had to sit at a table with strangers, some might not want this at a Northern/ Motown soul event , the tables were to close together , constantly having to ask people to move to get to your own table . Next year i would not bother with the food , let people bring their own if they want and so save money on staff and food , move the tables further to the back of the room and instead of food, decorate the tables with crackers , balloons , hats etc , you wouldn't have known it was New Year last night. Shame the DJ had to be told to play Auld lang syne. I know some people take their Northern soul seriously but we do enjoy a bit of fun and a New Year Party atmosphere . Please next year make your advertising more widespread and clear. Im still not 100% sure now if could have walked off the street and payed at the door last night . This is not solely my opinion , people where discussing these points on the night , also found out that some of my friends left before midnight , I'm not going to speculate why but i know they had no urgent need to. I look forward to next years do and i hope this letter and my opinion is helpful. S Faulkner Link to comment
