John Vincent review !

Soul Shack Saturday April 7th

Well the Soul Shack continues to roll onwards and upwards. Last night we enjoyed a large crowd who started to roll in at 7.30. Although we don’t officially open until 8 as designated ‘warm up’ DJ I started playing from the off. Having an extra 30 mins means I can sneak in more stuff which is great. It turned out well as the floor was energised by 8 and off we went.

For me spinning the sounds at the Shack enables me to continue the policy of the legendary Samantha’s where we always played everything and concentrated on creating a vibe. It’s not about playing safe or just playing ‘big money’ toons allnite but playing quality especially if they are not known to the crowd or haven’t been heard for a long time.

It’s a policy which suits me down to the ground as it enables me to rotate stuff I have and keep it fresh every month. Yes I play a number of ‘base’ toons but add different flavours to make it flow. Since I joined Tezza it’s become very successful mainly because the crowd we attract want this change in toon delivery and an introduction to stuff they haven’t heard.

Every month I’m asked what a certain toon was and it’s very refreshing as not taking the easy path of playing the top 100 makes for a night with a difference in the same manner as the foundation of Samantha’s was created.

It’s just play, no over mike use because for me it’s all about the music, that’s what it’s all about so I don’t mind about being the ‘warm up’ because I know I will get the response from our fabulous followers who support us every month so a big thank you to them for riding the Soul Shack vibe 👍❤️

What a great nite overall ❤️

PS: Next month a little change as it’s residents night which means the mighty Tezza and myself will dig deeper and I can get to play those 20 toons extra I never manage each month - it’s going to be special.

We will still continue our policy of no raffle, no buffet, no dance competition, in short no bullshit!
If you want to try, leave all your inhibitions at the door and pay us a visit-first Saturday in May.
