I ASKED STEVE TO DO ME A LITTLE WRITE UP OF HOW HE GOT INTO NORTHERN / MODERN SOUL , SO HERES WHAT HE SAID ...

I was a relatively late arrival to the scene, 1992, initially mostly via the never to be forgotten guidance of Cleethorpes legends Ashley, Gig, Suzalicious & Loz. My first regular haunt with them would have been Jim, Soap and Dave Levo's magnificent Lincoln Constitutional Club...... And within a few months we'd decided we were running our first do upstairs at Cleethorpes Winter Gardens, and that was it!..... No looking back! I was lucky enough to be able to run things at The Winter Gardens from about 1995 for about 15 years, basically because nobody else could be bothered at the time I reckon! It wasn't like it is nowadays! I always fell on the side of 70's/ 80's and modern really in taste and what I've tried to play. I've also run do's and have dj'd at all sorts of other venues locally and nationally over the years. My ModernSoulClassics brand has found it's way into many of the current national weekenders as a permenant fixture (yet with varying personnel dependent upon location) and continues to grow.... Onwards!
