Color One Tear Black welcomes Paul Havekin and Ged Kelly as guest selectors at The Paradise on Sunday 9th October.
Paul has been collecting soul for 40 years, with the focus on sweet soul for the last 10 years. He was resident DJ at the legendary Greatstone and has been a guest DJ at numerous nights and weekenders Gothenburg, Bilbao, Liverpool and Soul Essence. He is, in his own words, 'still as enthusiastic now as I was back then’.
Ged is the other half of the Don’t Drop Out podcast, which he does with COTB's own Jim Edwards. The format is two blokes discussing records they love over a few pints, which was well received and regularly a staff pick on Mixcloud. Also a long-term soul collector, as well as a promoter and manager of bands, he’s been a DJing on the London soul scene for the last 15 years, doing X-Ray Soul Club, Don’t Drop Out and most recently Soul Giant. More used to playing uptempo DJ sets, he’s looking forward to playing at COTB, ‘It’ll give me a chance to play tunes I’d normally only enjoy on my own, or in the podcasts’.
COTB residents Claire Kalvis, Jim Edwards and David Hill will also be spinning alongside Paul and Ged on 9th October.
Set up in February 2016 by Thierry Cochet, AKA Dr Kruger (NTS), Color One Tear Black celebrates group harmony, sweet and deep soul music, played on original issue 45s by resident DJs Dr Kruger, Claire Kalvis, Jim Edwards, David Hill plus guests. The night runs on the second Sunday of each month at The Paradise, 19 Kilburn Lane, London. W10 4AE.
