Micksmix December 4, 20231 yr 3 of 3 members say helpful 3 / 3 members Great night at Culcheth, some amazing sets. Great opening set from Simon Ingham and Chalky, double decking, quality all the way!! I had the unenviable task of following them. A mixture of styles and tempos from me, nice to see a positive response from the dancers. Bolton's Paul Johnson followed, with some great late Wigan/Stafford vibes, some tasty stuff mate!! Great to see Ian Wills behind the decks, a truly great and varied set and nice to see Angie Heap Wills continuing her 50th(cough) celebrations. Sorry we had to leave slightly early as the weather took a turn for the worse(understatement) made for shall we say interesting drive/ski home. Roads completely untreated given the forecast is not good!!! Cars spinning out and stranded at the side of the road!! Look forward to the February anniversary night!!! Response from the promoter: Thanks for the great review Mick, must admit didn’t envy you following Simon and Chalky and that superb opening set, it really was quality from the first record to the last on Saturday. Yourself, Simon and Karl plus guests Paul Johnson and Ian Wills pulling out all the stops and of course My Murphy diggin’ into that box of fantastic tunes to round off the night. I knew we would fall fowl of the weather forecasters on Saturday, with the threat and eventual appearance of snow having an effect on the travellers but everyone there attending both rooms had a good night out. Next night Saturday Feb 3rd with the annual LOWTON ANNIVERSARY celebration with Special Guests ANDY DYSON and KARL ‘CHALKY’ WHITE!
