What's been booted? On what label / issue? As a boot or a repro?

Why would anyone boot it anyway? It isn't as if it is a rare record or hard to come by or anything.

I've just had a quick gander on Gemm and it looks like it has been booted as a kind of repro..

But I'm like you Joan, had no idea it had been booted. It's a £100 ish record not mega rare but has demand.

Wouldn't be surprised if whichever tosspot has done this doesn't come up with a looky likey of Harvey Averne 'Never Learned To Dance' same kind of market demand but harder to pick up.

For identification the Eugene Jefferson boot appears visually different from the image I got from GEMM. The original is a very deep brown/black with light gold lettering (if that makes sense) and pressed on vinyl. Deadwax info is 2 scratched out small stamped matrix one letters one numbers at 10 o clock, just below that there is a scratched in identifier looks like LO - 033 and at 2 o clock a stamped capital H

As far as I can see, the repro is black with silver lettering 9looks like the same font as original) no idea what marks it may have in the deadwax and is available for £6.

wish i'd seen this thread to warn my girlfriend earlier, she just paid 40 pounds for the what has turned out to be a bootleg copy that arrived in the mail today. the boot just has the song titles scratched in the runout grooves.

I would be angry if I found one either original or boot, its a dreadful record.................in my opinion of course

I remember listing my original copy on Ebay sometime in May of last year. Straight away I started to receive messages from interested buyers asking me if my copy was original as there were reissues floating about.

Just like most people have already said on here I had absolutely no idea it had been reissued (coughs) and for what reason and where was the demand coming from?

After a quick search through google here's what Piccadilly Records in Manchester was saying:

EUGENE JEFFERSON "A PRETTY GIRL DRESSED IN BROWN" / "HIGH PRESSURE BLUES" 7" £ 5.99 Limited dinked reissue with replica US label artwork. 500 copies only.

"A Pretty Girl Dressed In Brown" is a killer northern soul / rhythm & blues crossover tune with a great vocal and hot band - perfect for the dancefloor. "High Pressure Blues" reverts to straight-up rhythm & blues and rocks it good.

My File Notes from that time say "the repro's use silver text on the label whilst originals have a nice warm gold touch. This is probably due to them using a copy of a label scan rather than copying straight from the original 45 label.

An original has stamped matrixes UK4M 0135 (on "Pretty Girl" side), UK4M 0136 (on "High" side) and lightly scratched numbers LO-033 / LO-034. On both sides this stamp has been lightly scratched out but is still readable. I'd be surprised if the repro's have anything stamped in the run outs - they're more likely to just have scratched numbers.

And finally there was always a suggestion that this record sounded very similar in parts to Darrell Banks "Open the door to your heart" - could never hear it myself.

Hi the boots lettering is silver and on originals it is golden colour . They have been about for a little while now and can easily mislead for sure .

MY COPY IS ALSO A VERY DARK GREEN/BLACK AS PER SABLE LABEL STUFF

BUT IVE ALSO HAD AN ISSUE ON THE SAME COLOUR AS THIS BOOT
