April 20, 201114 yr They're three short stories all loosely based around the Casino, first was called "Ten Miles High", about a schoolkid discovering NS through said single, ended with him getting through the doors for the first time, quite fun. Todays is called "What shall I do", about a cloakroom girl at t'Casino, tomorrows is called "Three before eight" about a FICTIONAL DJ sorting his box of tunes for a Casino spot!
April 20, 201114 yr You know what, I normally detest anything like this because they get get it so wrong. However, I quite enjoyed the first part and although the writer is from Wigan itself she'd only have been about 14 when it shut and as such it was a reasonable job. Ok, some quirky bits and cliches but it contained elements that as a young lad having just left school and discovering NS for the first time I could relate to. Just swap the guy at school for a guy I once worked with etc. I'll give part two a listen later to see if he gets rolled in the bogs. Writer has the wrong idea about the use of talc though, but I'll let her off for that. Edited April 20, 201114 yr by Dave Turner

April 20, 201114 yr https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b010dq78/Afternoon_Reading_Tales_from_the_Casino_What_Shall_I_Do/ thats todays (wednesday)
April 21, 201114 yr I turned on Radio 4 this afternoon and a guy was talking about WILLIE HUTCH "THE DUCK" and how much he liked it! I had to keep checking that it was Radio 4 and not some old recording I might have kept. He was talking as though it was still 1977 and he was going to DJ at the Casino that night. The opening bars of Tobi Legend still sent a shiver up the back of my neck! (or maybe it was remembering a dab of Soul!) Some bits were slightly patronizing, but overall I enjoyed it.
April 22, 201114 yr https://www.bbc.co.uk...e_Before_Eight/ 09.00 ------ This is the Flaming Emeralds "Have Some Everybody" --- Now i've heard a rumour there'll be a bootleg of this coming out on Grapevine in a few months. Edited April 22, 201114 yr by Dave Turner
April 22, 201114 yr Really enjoying these. If you liked the 2nd one, about the cloakroom, try listening to some of Joolz Sullivan's poetry. She writes about growing up and living in the Bradford area. Some heart rending, some hysterical. But all in a similar style to the What Shall I Do story.

Rob the DJ sounds a t-at though
Something on the radio about the Casino now
