Listening to Pete Smith's stream from Cleethorpes in 75 and Zola comes on.I've read Snowboys book on the UK Jazz dance scene and what was played where. Was this played before Gil Scott Heron-The Bottle.?.....I think it's a totally out there instrumental and goes into a straight descarga(freeform) in the middle. Were there any more records like this played back in the "golden age" and who was responsible for breaking it?

Brilliant instrumental, never owned a real one, just had the pressing back in the day.

Now you mention it, yes!

That bongo break was a bit wild..... mind you enough people used to freak out to that wailing sax on Dave Mitchells "The Trip" too!

"The Now Generation" - Mongo Santamaria

"Soul Sauce" - Cal Tjader

Someone played this at the last Kings Hall, first time I've heard it for many a year!

Always much too fast to comfortably dance to for many, so it was often a floor clearer.

However all the really athletically inclined needed a record like this to show off their superior dancing skills, thus this record gave 'em the room to do it!
