Shane, J Manships Brit guide is quite new. Had a quick look at it on xmas day courtesy of Steve and Karen from Bradford. That looked good.

Peter Guaralnic's (can't be arsed checking the spelling),"Dream Boogie" about Sam Cooke, well written and researched haven't finished it yet but, worth a punt

Earl Palmer is a hero of mine. He played drums with Litle Richard and on the Spector records before giving it up to become Branch secretary of the LA Musicians Union. I don't think he played on many LA soul sessions as small labels couldn't afford him but Sinatra and others could.

Hi,a book I read recently although not new is Too Darn Soulful........all about the scene in the earlier years,good pics and old soulies accounts of going to all-nighters etc
