What would be your ideal Soul Night

Oldies, Modern, Motown, Across the board, Funk, R&B .... ????

Don't look at previous entries and comment on them, look at this with a pair of blinkers on and say what YOU like and not how someone else is talking shit !!

You could give an example if you wish but lets try and keep it clean and tidy !!

My ideal soul night would be a mid tempo/crossover night with records played rare in quality as opposed to rare in value

When I signed up for the scene back in the day everything was under one roof and one banner 'Northern Soul' and at most venues you got a bit of everything, ie stuff you knew (Classics/Current) stuff you sort of knew (underplayed) and stuff you didn't know (rare/new). Despite this format being some what out of favour these days I always thought it was pretty good so a night of this please.

Ok, yes i could ignore them, but please, let's at least have input that is meaningful and valid towards soul music, surely there are a myriad of nights/ nighter's to cater for all and sundry on this varied UK soul scene today.

Ps take a look at Dave Box's excellent Darrow Fletcher interview link (not going to say where it is...LOOK..) that's the sort of input that is valid and at the same time informative and important for the continuation of this forum to remain meaningful...
