Guest Posted July 25, 2003 Share Posted July 25, 2003 Just a little update on what's going on here at FLIPside Firstly the website has had a complete overhaul, due to the complex method that my previous web building program did things. It's now a simple affair to update / add / change any pages. I am still awaiting photo's people promised to send me (my camera died at the last event !!), and anyone wanting to send in photo's or reviews please mail me at info@flipsideclub.co.uk. We need impartial reviewers for the events. Secondly. September sees the foremost R&B DJ duo in the UK, Roger Banks and Carl Willingham at FLIPside. Neither need any introduction, they will be heading up the FLIPside Room with 50's and 60's R&B, early 60's soul and plenty of "60's newies". A full list of DJ's is on the website. A good time is guaranteed. September also brings to FLIPside's specialist room "Club-A-GoGo", a full on "Club Soul" all-nighter, we have brought together some of the UK's leading DJ's currently spinning Club Soul, to celebrate what became "Northern Soul". Appearing for the first time are Ciro and Eddie, both have served the Soul scene, Mod scene and Scooterist scene for many years and they blend uptempo R&B, Sweet sixties soul and early funk/soul crossover into pure dancefloor action. This will be a very busy room, bring a towel, some talc and your best dancing shoes and be prepared to dance. On to December. This is going to be a very special event, being the UK's very first Popcorn All-Nighter, held in the specialists room, "Smokey Joes Cafe" brings together the UK's VERY best Popcorn DJ's and for the first time, Belgian DJ's Paul & Rudy (TBC), playing a full spectrum of Belgian Popcorn. I have asked all the DJ's to play the "real deal" and not just the watered down Popcorn, we at FLIPside call English Popcorn. There will be a full write up on what is Popcorn, it's history and it's stars appearing in the website very soon (authored by our very own Nashee). The interest in Decembers All-nighter has been quite staggering, from all over Europe I have had emails .....so more to follow on this one. Check out the flyer online ... The FLIPside room will be hosting R&B stars such as Lee Miller (Shotgun, NUT's, Bury, Lowton, Hideaway etc), Ska legend Ian Macc, and loads more in the usual FLIPside way. - The full line up will be posted very soon.
