  • 143 and 152, different takes.  Both great though, one of the best northern records ever for me and cheap!

The two issues on Calla are different mixes/takes.

As far as I was aware the other different take belongs to Butch, he has the studio acetate which has male backing.

i was just talking to someone about it and they pointed out that they had calla 152 not 153, didnt even know there were different versions until now

sorry 142 & 143

and right there is why i like it so much chalky

always knew there were different versions but never compared...ive got 143 but just listened to both on you tube and not sure which one i like best now!..143 is more punchy and drums are more 'northern' i suppose but i do like the doubled up more funky drums and the way she lingers her words a bit on the other...or maybe i just like hearing new things

great tune either way

So which version is on the CD album ??  (& why weren't both takes included as that seems to have every other track she cut for Calla on it).

i was just going through the CD & my JW 45s & i think there are a couple more of the Calla sides missing, so that is just one of the missing ones I suppose.  Does seem a bit odd to not put everything on there though, but there must be reasons.
