Not seen a posting on this which has surprised me the album "Victim of love" is a new release on the Daptone label is very good with IMO not a bad track on it , to me listening to it the I immediately thought James Brown meets Otis Reading, which is not surprising as he was a James Brown impersonator the tracks range from ballards to dancers , kinda of funky edged soul very much in a 70s style with a best track for me is "you put the flame on it" if you only get one new release this year get this, available from amazon and I tunes

Excellent performance by this man (new to me) on Jools Holland yesterday!

I missed Jools Holland last night. I thought his last CD was great so look forward to this one too

There is an extended bit longer show on Friday 11.05 PM  so you can maybe see it then  .  Have to check out his material further for sure myself . Always nice with new good stuff

His LP 'No Time For Dreaming' was one of the new release high lights of the last few years, a must for any LP collection. It had a rawness that captured the sound of 70's, with current recording values. Hope some of that can be found on this LP !!!

Sounds like the guy's had a fairly rough time of it in his life (as most of the soul singers we love and adore have done I suppose), and was 'discovered' quite late. Pleasing that he's making money now though. Fair play to Gabriel Roth for giving him a chance

Hey miff & brit soul plan, I agree put the flame is brill pity it's not on a 7" vinyl
