Can anyone help determine wether this copy of Gloria Jones - Tainted Love is a real one or a boot !

 

Details:

 

Champion Label B - Side - C-14003 White Dj Copy - Vinyl Press, Matrix reads triangle 56960 X   then a circle a dash then a MR Stamp then 14003B  all scratched in other than MR Stamp !

 

A - Side = My Bad Boy's Comin' Home

Well the 56960 number is accurate as far as the release date goes, and it looks right, but I think we've debated this particular version of the record before and someone had doubts

Yes mate seem to remember something myself so I looked on Popsike and found a few the same saying it was an original but thought I'd pop it back on here to get the info before I sell it,

Looking at the Style of the Labels

I believe that the plates used were Mastered at Monarch, hence the Delta # and MR stamp in the Deadwax.

Then Pressed at different pressing plants.

 

EAST COAST : "Arp"

 

The style of the Label would Suggest an "Arp" Press for your DEMO EAST Coast.

The Left and Right Justification on the Credits always a clue thanks to the printer. The Text lined up against a Straight edge.

 

 

 

MIDWEST :

This pressing plant variation looks like the Dart Record Sales Distribution Co.'s pressings and label font. that was Art Sheriden and Ewart Abner's distribution company, that distributed VJ and its family of labels and distributed labels in The Midwest and South.

 

 

WEST COAST : Monarch Press

 

Think the locals were short sighted on the West Coast, all the writing on their labels were double the size of the east coast !!
