Once again, the mystery of the JM auctions.  JACKIE TRENT - ONLY ONE SUCH AS YOU - PICCADILLY.  This attained the incredible price of £184 in a January auction, and of course in the next few weeks loads of copies turned up for sale on Soul Source, from £40 to £70 mainly.  Many of us were astonished at the auction price as prior to that it was worth about £10.

Anyway it would be interesting to know if anyone actually sold a copy.  I picked one up off Ebay, from the Soul section, for £6.50 on sunday, and that despite there were 11 bids, nobody bid higher than £6.50!

The same has happened several times, most notably with the Jackie Edwards "Come On Home" which went for £300 plus despite it only being worth £20.  I sold a mint one to someone who offered me £80 for it but otherwise I struggled to get £20 for my other spare copy.

I think the auctions are great entertainment but I am still trying to work out why people pay astonishing sums of money for such common records, records which can easily be found cheaply with a couple of mouse clicks.

Not seen but do you mean My Life With You?

£70 tops?

that's the one mate, its at £81 with 2 weeks to go

Traditions has gone for up to £100 a few times over the last couple of years, I'd say £75.00 would be about right though.

:hatsoff2: HI ALL Pete I can never understand the madness of some people, Unless you are a dealer in records & are shrewd enough to be able to capitalise on what I consider are mad record buys, The problem comes about from rumour on the scene, about a certain 45, the best example I can give is STANKY DAY OFF BILLIE DAVIS cobblestone records, a record that had been knocking about for years at £2, yet for a reason I still can't get my head around even when people like myself were warning people that they were not  buying a rare record, the record continued to sell, to such a status it was bootlegged, which sold well,

about 5 years ago on ebay, I saw a UK copy off WILLIE HUTCH C/W BOBBY HUTTON sell for £150 explain that madness to me  AS ALWAYS DAVE K

I think that was valued high by mistake, should have been £10 and came out as £100, never been rare.
