January 19, 201411 yr I seem to recall having a CD with most of the JC tracks cut in the period when this was recorded (but not with my collection at present). Probably this one ......... https://www.amazon.com/Introduction-Johnny-Copeland/dp/B000GFRIX6/ref=sr_1_13?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1390096779&sr=1-13&keywords=johnny+copeland I love loads of Johnny's work even though he hated being called a soul singer and always insisted he only ever wanted to cut blues songs. January 20, 201411 yr You are correct, it's totally a blues thing, but it is a great record. I posted this up cause I bought it last week for nothing, three quid It's a collectors thing, it will never be a massive 45 But respect to a great old 45 I have enjoyed listening to this 45 this week
January 20, 201411 yr Johnny made a number of great deep soul tracks, his voice was perfect for genre ..... BUT ... he still insisted that they were all blues numbers. Whatever HE wanted to call em, I'm very glad he made em & I'll still think of them as being fine deep soul cuts.
January 20, 201411 yr Have had a copy of his superb, "Coming To See About You" on Jetstream/Suave for many a year...fabulous laid back tune with tinkling piano work and steady horn section complimenting Johnny's cool vocal...recommended.
February 3, 201411 yr There's a screaming female version with different lyrics on the same label. Jannie Williams - I've Been True - Golden Eagle 103 I enjoy both versions but the Jannie Williams version carries a little extra oomph in her delivery.

February 4, 201411 yr Have had a copy of his superb, "Coming To See About You" on Jetstream/Suave for many a year...fabulous laid back tune with tinkling piano work and steady horn section complimenting Johnny's cool vocal...recommended. Quite right young Dave, suprising just how many 45's he did - he is one of my favourite singers and would have loved to have seen him live !
February 4, 201411 yr Here's both sides of a record I have by him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=nacsQZMOW1Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=T32CCtlsUZY Plus I always thought his version of suffering city with Lilly on Wetsoul is far superior to his solo outing Edited February 4, 201411 yr by Kegsy
February 4, 201411 yr And for those that are happy to hear as much music as they can but don't worrying about missing crackles and pops, one of Kents finest releases in recent times, which is really saying something given recent output, is available cheaper than any of his 45's, and works far better in the car system. Its on repeat at the moment, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Its-Classic-Texas-Soul-1965-72/dp/B00BPBWYHU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391531843&sr=8-1&keywords=johnny+copeland

I've always thought it's a bit slept on by soul collectors.
