March 1, 201411 yr Is it this? I'm not a popcorn expert but I think a mate once put this on a CD for me. Don't shoot the messenger by the way!
March 1, 201411 yr It is that. It's credited to ROG Whittaker on the record (Fontana I think, without checking). I've actually got this on a 45.
March 1, 201411 yr Beats the pants off I am Gonna Leave Old Durham Town. I Wouldn't mind a copy of this. Edited March 1, 201411 yr by Prophonics 2029

Barry St John was the only one that got played. Brian Poole only collected by UK label nuts. There's something else on that Cilla LP isn't there, Yo Yo or something like that. There's another male version of it on US Amy or Mala. Barry St John's is the only version (for me anyway.)
March 2, 201411 yr That's the one, Barry St.John'!!! Cheers Pete. The picture on the youtube video is not the LP I found, this is the lp I got, original 1966 Parlophone... Cilla is backed by 'The Marrionettes' and the L.P contains versions of: 'There's No Place To Hide' '123' 'Baby I'm Yours' 'The Real Thing' (very uptempo Motown soundalike) 'Everything I Touch...' 'In A Woman's Eyes'
March 2, 201411 yr 'The Real Thing' (very uptempo Motown soundalike)... As in a cover of the Tina Britt song

'In A Woman's Eyes' Thats the LP I was thinking of, there's two from that periood with stacks of soul covers on, shame her voice isn't better/stronger. I still like the B side of You're My World, "Suffer Now I Must". Best get away from talking about Cilla Black before someone crashes the thread to tell us off.
March 2, 201411 yr Yeah, the backing is great and so are the Marrionettes but Cilla's voice needs a bit more power.
March 2, 201411 yr Well, as we are talking about naff 'pop' UK being incorporated into the UK Popcorn/Soul scene, how about this tune... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380457831777?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1064wt_1371 I got one last night for £2.45 post free and there's another on ebay at the moment for pennies so I'm not sure where the £50 price tag came from! Apparently played at Mod nights.
