Posted September 21, 201410 yr I put a bid on a record then saw I had been out bid with an hour or so to go. Checked the new High bidders bidding details and here it is last 30 day summary: Number of bids 14 Items bid on 14 Total percentage bidding with this seller 78% So technically he has only put 1 bid on each of the 14 items he has bid on What do you think?
September 21, 201410 yr eBay is awash with all sorts of strange bidding, always has been... personally I think folk should challenge eBay allot more if they think something is adrift...
September 21, 201410 yr Author Mal do you think this is shill bidding? 78% is very high and only putting one bid on each of the 14 items suggest its the seller doing it!
September 21, 201410 yr Is there a way to see if that bidder has only bid on that single owner's bid items? If so, it would be hard evidence that the owner, himself is doing that, and he should be banned, or forced to lower the price of all 13 of those items, back to the previous offer before his shilling.
September 22, 201410 yr I have found after 12 years of buying and selling on eBay, that if you are suspicious about something, you should ring eBay directly and report it. Unless they know about such goings on, they can't do anything about it, and if you make them aware, they act swiftly to sort it out. I would def report it, and even if it isn't a shill bidder, no harm done.
September 22, 201410 yr Happens to be a well known dealer! with that though you do get people who just bid on known dealer's auctions due to many factors. laziness, trust, ease etc, so i wouldn't say that's a definite shill exercise.
