As as a small boy I can remember distinctly the first two songs I heard, I'm guessing it'd be about 1978, I was playing with my toys and the radio was on, I stopped playing to listen to "Reach Out I'll Be There" and then another song which I've only heard once more since (about 1990) there's a story to that too but I won't go into that now.
I can only remember the chorus, and I've gone through the usual suspects (The Equals and David Ruffin although David Ruffin is the closest sound to it) so I can only write the words as I remember them as few as they are.
It doesn't help that I've had music on, bloody ironing!
It goes, "baby come back, cos I'm nothing without your love" it sounded a lot like David Ruffin but the tempo was different.
