Surely there has never been a label design more cool, more evocative, than the original US Motown label design?

From the first "import" I ever bought (Tammi Terrell, This Old Heart Of Mine), to the present day, a glimpse of this label make my heart beat just a tad faster.

Case closed?

Big effort from enchantedrythm - fab stuff (it's not like I've appointed myself judge on this - just wanted to acknowledge everyone's time and trouble)

There was a similar thread a while back about records to put on your wal.

Tony Smith chose a Poo Pan track.

bet kids love seeing that on peoples walls

I might be wrong but I think the earlier labels had red lettering and the later ones had black.

So, could be different issues? And if so, is there a value/rarity difference??

Both have same matrix.

Anybody else with the full s.p.???

Maybe not the best label, but it depicts our Scene nicely

Cheers

Like these three too. I know the matt brown's not as cool as the red & yellow, but there's just something about it (scanned wrong side - I know  )...

I love on the Gloria & t_Airas label it says "psychedelic soul"!

Re: the Wand question. Just different pressing plants. Nothing more sinister.

Here's a few more.

I've remembered another with the 'City' type shot, although it is a different City. Do a couple of things stand out on that label??
