I had a rush of blood the other evening and bid on a record in the region of £60! :D

As anyone who knows how tight I am, will vouch that is an extremely large amount of money for me to part with. I've wanted this record for ages, it's not uncommon, just that I've never considered spending that sort of money before, more important things for me money to go on. I just thought I'd treat myself as it's my birthday Saturday.

Whilst watching the last few minutes of the auction half of me was hoping to be outbid and the other half hoping that I'd finally get one of my wants. The old adrenaline was pumping through the veins.

Anyway in the future when I see a record at £50+ that I want, I must remember to go into a darkened room and lie down until the feeling passes.

Life gets really scary when a £50 record is a classed as a cheapie

Gonna tell us what it was? :D

i won't tell your wife if you don't tell mine! i wish dealers would take plain sleeves to venues instead of me having to hide the bloody thing because it's got X amount of pounds written on it!! :D

It what I call my "reverse stop-loss" i.e. the most I'd ever pay for a record; funny how it changes with time and income!

Was once £10, missed out on a Jimmy Bo Horne - speak & Ray Pollard @£15 a pop!

At £20 I missed out on Larry Clinton & Arin Demain!

At £100, missed the Nomads!

And so on................

However, the feeling of disapoinment has never been the same as paying £60 for a 'must have' recorded I rated at £40 max to see it on every other list at £30 for the next few years!!!!

Set a limit and stick to it, or you'll find it's better to have a crack cocaine habit!

No, because as soon as I do someone will say " I've got a copy you could have had for £40". :D

On second thoughts not wanting to be rude, it was Kim Weston's - I'm Still Loving You - Tamla. First heard it ages ago on CD, then when I first joined on here asked about how much for a copy. Just thought " Sod it! it's now or never!"

The gravity of such a faux pa is dependent on the quality of the tune involved, and in this case and such a quality sound, I don't think you have a case to answer! :D

Can't think of many more examples of "all round class" that would warrant you to break your previous limit. And it'll last forever Mate. Good call! :D
