Billy Sha Rae Help Please

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have seen 2 different colour 'Spectrum' labels for the Billy Sha Rae track I'm gone.
One deep red, and one blue. What is the difference? is one a boot or were there 2 colours released?
Thank you

I'm Gone and Do It both came out on the Mauve Spectrum label, Do It also came out on UK Action and I think French Vogue.

Think the Blue (boot/reissue) came out around 78, and also think the Billy Sha-Rae version of I'm Gone was played before Eddie Parker as the boot appeared before RS started playing Eddie Parker.

Think Billy Sha-Rae was first played at Cleethorpes and then Wigan championed Eddie Parker.

Wasn't Billy Sha-Rae a pseudonym for Jack Ashford (thought I read that somewhere about 30 years ago)

Regards

Off topic song title wise but I do have a copy of 'Do It' on belgian Arsa (with pic sleeve).

He was born William Daniel Wilson from Uniontown near Pittsburgh. Lead member of Soul Congress (as in Alans pic above) who were hired as sessionists.

Don't honestly know. I just picked up "Do It" on Arsa as part of the pic sleeve 45 book I was working on. Only cost me £20-30 I think. Dont know if I'm Gone ever came out on the label though I think it may have done

Which one? Could you highlight "the man" please as I am not sure which one you are referring to.

R E Gards

I would imagine as he is the lead artist he is the prominent one in the middle
