I have just put a record on sale that I'm unsure if it's a bootleg.. It's the Chris Clark - Love's Gone MAD - misspelled title on both sides, and same song with vocals on both sides.  I can't find it in Manships book 5th editi. and neither in Goldmine books.

What am I too think?

Any ideas?

Yes i've seen this one too...MAnships lists a misprint with MAD instead of BAD..but the same song on both sides doesn't feature in any of the books...

Hi Soeron, Kieth Hughes,the guru from " Don't forget the motor city " acknowledges a Mad issue miss print. but all the promos are normally white liable( some red vinyl)  ,also the font on your copy , particularly the apostraphy and g don't match VIP issue copies,finally the instro is a highly unlikely Motown ploy ,but indeed a bootleggers favoured tactic, you tube has inatros of " Loves Gone Bad"  try if yours sound like ,which are remixes//boots. Finally was the " Mad" a Berry joke he was at the time dividing his affections between  Chris and Lady I !

My copy of the Lollipops - "Cheating is telling on you", was a demo in the same format as this Chris Clark, even though there are white  demo versions. The Lollipops hasn't been booted as far as I know?

Still I agree with you over the instrumental being on the flip, it is usually the same both sides.  Also the Lollipops has two different fonts for the artist and title

Yours is the REAL deal. A West Coast styrene press. Should sell easy.

iirc it was the first issue, which was withdrawn very quickly due to the mistake................

I thought so. Thanks for all the input people, I remembered the B-side as an instrumental but it has the same vocals. I dig it out and put it on the turntable.  I sold it for 50£ so what he got is the first first press so to speak.

It looks legit to me in colouring, print ink, font, label style cut edge of the label paper, and runout.  It would be difficult to get the colouring and ink on the print to be consistently correct on a label taken from a scan or photograph.  But, there's an easy way to check.  It appears to be an L.A. Monarch, styrene pressing.  If it IS, indeed original, it will have the following Monarch pressing Delta number:  62560.  If it has a Delta number of 90000 or more, it would be a '70s boot.  But, I have little doubt that it is real, and you have a fairly rare misprint.
