Radio station WDIA Memphis (the one on which Elvis heard his first black music) was the origin of the Pepper Sound Studios (which morphed into Pepper Tanner in the sixties and W.B. Tanner in the seventies). One of the founders was John R. Pepper III. He started recording commercials jingles in the basement of the building that Kennedy passes during the 1960 campaign.
