Hi, I know that this is likely to be some sort of reissues record label, but I am interested in finding out a bit more about it if I can.

I have a copy of Heaven in the afternoon on the label, but it is credited "Lou Curtan Revue". This is really just to find out for my own inforamtion so if anyone can shed some light I would be greatful.

There is no information on the label and nothing useful in the deadwax, except maybe; . L NIX. other than that it just has the number P-120-A. I know there are a few copies about as I have seen one or two recently.

Im wondering if it's a Beach Music label. The Pad is a club in Myrtle Beach that is the equivalent of our Wigan Casino.

L-O-V-E the Al Green track, but by a different artist I believe as it is much better. I have emailed the producer to see if he can shed any light on it. I have also seen it listed as beach music, so that would tie in.

"L. Nix" is Larry Nix, the mastering engineer who used to work at Mastercraft of Memphis, and who mastered countless records for Stax and suchlike in the 70s. He often 'signed' his work back then, too...

...Obviously this has no bearing on the legitimacy (or otherwise!) of this pressing, but I thought I'd throw that two cents worth in anyway

Heaven In The Afternoon on this label is a DIFFERENT mix to the Alston release.

The flipside I thought was sung by Lou.

My thoughts were it was the first take and a private press made to be pushed to get a release with a larger label.

It is certainly NOT the same take as the Alston 45.

Soul Sam recently acquired a copy from me, and he's very excited about it so expect some turntable action.

Thanks for that John, I am pushing the flip side (LOVE) as I think it is fantastic version of the track. It gets played on the south coast and I do believe its heading across the south now with it being put in the play boxes for lightwater and the like. I'm going to listen to the Alston track and the PAD one now.

I've been told of a 12 inch version and a mate is digging it out for me so I can have a listen. The PAD one seems to have a longer intro that could fit with that idea.
