I've just learned of the news about Red Kelly, The Soul Detective.

His knowledge of Soul Music was incredible, learned so much from his blogs.

He will be missed.

I’ve had many an email discourse with Red Kelly. He was a warm and enthusiast correspondent. Very sad that he is gone R.I.P.

Had quite a few contacts with Red.

I'm pretty sure he was the driving force behind the raising of funds to erect a headstone for O.V. Wright's grave. For that great gesture alone he deserves to be remembered. 

Very sad news. I was an avid follower of his blogs The Bside, Soul Detective etc. And learnt so much from them. Crazy to think that was15 years or so ago now and then out of the blue he emailed me earlier this year.

He was a great guy. I was lucky enough to attend one of his annual summer parties out on Long Island one year, and he'd hired Lattimore Brown (with whom he was good friends) to entertain. What a sad loss.
