Help With Identifying A Track

A mate asked me about a record. He only had the very beginning on a tape. The thing is I know it! I've forgotten what it is though? Female mid-tempo Northern Soul. Pretty sure it was on a Kent LP years ago too?

Here's the first lines...

Please put him...and me out of our misery!
